-une bonne affinité pour les fibres de polyester ;
-une affinité pour le coton en présence d'agents de gonflement ;

<EMI ID=12.1>

<EMI ID=18.1>
<EMI ID=19.1>
<EMI ID=20.1>
<EMI ID=21.1> <EMI ID=22.1>
<EMI ID=23.1>

<EMI ID=26.1>
<EMI ID=27.1>

<EMI ID=47.1>
<EMI ID=48.1>

The azo dyes corresponding to formula (I) make it possible to obtain colorations and prints, the tint of which is between yellow and orange, on hydrophobic synthetic fibers, in particular on polyester fibers with a coloring power. high and good general properties, in particular good resistance to light, humidity and heat treatments.
These dyes are suitable for "Thermosol" type applications (190-220 [deg.] C) and have furthermore shown excellent performance in dyeing and printing cotton-polyester mixed fibers, using the methods. known, currently in use.
For this last application, the dyes doi-r-

-a good affinity for polyester fibers;
an affinity for cotton in the presence of swelling agents;
-possibility of obtaining colorations exhibiting very limited color differences on the two fibers.

corresponding to formula (I) were obtained by reacting a cyanacetylaniiide corresponding to formula (II) in an organic solvent (dimethylformamide, ethanol) with a pN-dialkylamino-salicylic aldehyde of formula (III) in the presence of a basic catalyst (piperidine) at reflux temperature, followed by hydrolysis of the compound obtained. The reactions thus involved are illustrated schematically below:

born.
The Applicant has now found, and this is the subject of the present patent application, an improved process.
<EMI ID = 12.1>
conditions which ensure a more economical and faster operation. and give a higher efficiency compared to the process described in the main patent.
The aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a simple and economical preparation process for the dyes corresponding to formula (I).
These bits and others, which will appear more clearly from the following description, are achieved according to the present invention by means of a process for the preparation of the disperse azocoumarin dyes corresponding to formula CI), this process being characterized in that These dyes are obtained by reacting, in an inert organic solvent, an intermediate of formula (IV) with a salicylaldehyde of formula (III) in the presence of a basic catalyst.
The dyes of formula (I) are therefore obtained, according to the invention, by reaction of intermediates corresponding to formula '(IV), which are novel in themselves and therefore form part of the scope of the present invention, with a salicylaldehyde (III) according to the following reaction:
<EMI ID = 13.1>
<EMI ID = 14.1>
<EMI ID = 15.1>
already given.
<EMI ID = 16.1>
organic solvent, such as for example alcohols (methyl,
<EMI ID = 17.1>
chlorobenzene, etc., and this solution is treated with substantially equimolar amounts of salicylaldehyde (III) in the presence of a basic catalyst, heating under reflux for about 30-60 minutes. During the reaction, the dye (I) precipitates, and it is filtered, washed and dried. As basic catalysts, pyridine, piperidine,
<EMI ID = 18.1>
hydroxyethyl) -trimethyl ammonium, etc.
Intermediate (IV), which is new in itself, is in turn obtained by condensation of the amino-azo compound (V), 1 mole, with the malonic diester (VI), approximately 1 to 2 moles, depending on the reaction. (3):
<EMI ID = 19.1>
<EMI ID = 20.1>
<EMI ID = 21.1> <EMI ID = 22.1>
separated by treating the reaction product with dilute hydrochloric acid, removing the hydrochloride, etc.
The amino-azo compound (V) can in turn be obtained using traditional techniques:
(a) by diazotization of a base A (for example aniline, toluidine, anisidine, xylidine, chloroaniline, etc.) and coupling on an amine of formula (VII):
<EMI ID = 23.1>
(b) by diazotization of a 4-nitro-aniline of formula (VIII):
<EMI ID = 24.1>
and coupling on a coupling basis A (eg, N-dimethylaniline, N-dimethylchloroaniline, etc.) followed by re-
<EMI ID = 25.1>
gnification already given.
The condensation (3) is carried out by letting it drop dropwise into the solution constituted by the amino compound.
<EMI ID = 26.1>
example, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorobenzene, dimethylformamide, etc., this solution being heated to reflux,
<EMI ID = 27.1>
<EMI ID = 28.1>
low boiling point, in practice alcohols.
<EMI ID = 29.1> can prepare dye (I) without separating intermediate (IV),
<EMI ID = 30.1>
cylaldehyde (III) and the basic catalyst, or else the hydrochloride obtained is separated, as mentioned above, with dilute HCl.
It is also possible to operate using the compound aminoazo (V) as a paste (in water). In this case, before adding the malonic diester (VI), the water present is distilled.
Dyes obtained with this new process are used, as mentioned previously, to obtain colorations and prints on hydrophobic synthetic fibers, in particular on polyester fibers, with high coloring power and good coloring characteristics, in particular resistance to light, to wet treatments and to heat treatments.
The following Examples will further illustrate the invention, without however constituting any limitation of the scope thereof.

After the addition, heating is carried out and the corresponding sampling (an additional 20 ml of product is collected.

Example 2
In a flask fitted with a stirrer, a settling funnel and a distillation column, the

2 1/2 hours, simultaneously withdrawing approximately 20 ml of products <EMI ID = 39.1>
After the addition, reheating and the corresponding sampling is carried out, collecting another 20 milliliters of top products, over a period of 2 1/2 hours. By proceeding as in Example 1, from a small portion of the solution, the intermediate of formula (IV) is separated:
<EMI ID = 40.1>
which means:

<EMI ID = 42.1>
Found: C%, 66.31; H%: 5.80; N%: 12.75.
To the remaining solution of the intermediate (IV) thus obtained, 9.65 g (0.05 mol) of N, N-diethylaminosalicylaldehyde and 2 ml of piperidine are added, and the mixture is heated under reflux for
45 minutes. After cooling, it is filtered, washed with petroleum ether and dried, thus obtaining 16.6 g of a yellow-orange powder of the dye corresponding to the following formula:
<EMI ID = 43.1>
<EMI ID = 44.1>
match the structure shown.
Example 3 (dyeing)
In an apparatus for pressure dyeing, 100 g of a polyester fabric, previously wrung out, is treated

containing:
2 g / liter of ammonium sulfate
1 g / liter of ELU emulsion (nonionogenic surfactant, produced by the company Montedison).
1 g of the dye, prepared according to Example 1, dispersed beforehand and filtered through a sieve is added. The bath is brought to a pH of 5.5 with formic acid. It is heated to 90 [deg.] C over a period of 20 to 30 minutes, then the temperature is slowly raised to 130 [deg. .] C and maintained at this temperature for 60 minutes. At the end of dyeing, we cool to 80-85 [deg.] C, we

2 ml / liter of caustic soda 36 [deg.] Be;
<EMI ID = 47.1>
0.5 g / liter of Diapal CW (non-ionogenic detergent, produced by the company Montedison). Rinse thoroughly and dry.
The dye thus obtained, of a brilliant yellow color, exhibits high intensity, good resistance to light and to humidity, and excellent stability to heat treatments.
Example 4 (dyeing)
A polyester-cotton fabric, suitably wrung out, is printed using a paste corresponding to the following formulation:
<EMI ID = 48.1>
The fabric, dried but still containing a little solvent to allow the fixing of the dye, undergoes a heat fixing treatment in a stream of air at 200 [deg.] C for 1 to 2 minutes. This fabric is then first washed in running water, then subjected to hot soaping, and finally rinsed in running water, so as to obtain an impression of yellow color free of contrast, exhibiting excellent characteristics of resistance to light, humidity, friction and, in addition, stability to heat treatments.
In a manner analogous to the method described in the aforementioned examples, the dyes mentioned in the table below are prepared at the same time as the relative coloring obtained.
