[deg.]Matelas anti-escarres'
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=8.1>
[deg.] Anti-decubitus mattress'
The invention relates to a new type of mattress
anti-decubitus.
We know that most bedsores are caused
by prolonged contact of the patient's body with the bed or
seat it occupies. In fact, these bedsores are essential- <EMI ID = 1.1>
<EMI ID = 2.1>
for example, but who also suffer from compression
<EMI ID = 3.1>
It has already been proposed to combat training
of these bedsores by making the patient rest on cushions or mattresses comprising pipes or areas subjected alternately to the action of air or water so that the parts of the body which come into contact with these cushions or mattresses are alternated without stopping.
<EMI ID = 4.1>
also the actual discomfort suffered by patients from the use of cushions or mattresses giving a sensation
unpleasant mobility.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to produce an anti-decubitus mattress which resolves the problem posed in a completely satisfactory manner.
To this end, the anti-decubitus mattress according to the invention consists of a synthetic or natural material foam having, at least on its face of use, channels extending transversely to the general plane of the mattress.
In an advantageous embodiment, only the layer of the mattress comprising the aforementioned channels consists of a closed cell foam, the remainder of the mattress being entirely, or at least in its part adjacent to the layer comprising said channels, consisting of an open cell foam.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description which will be given below of an anti-decubitus mattress according to the invention. This description is given only by way of example and does not limit the invention. Reference notations refer to the attached figure.
<EMI ID = 5.1>
This figure shows in perspective, with partial breakage, an anti-decubitus mattress according to the invention and the description which will follow will relate to one embodiment.
<EMI ID = 6.1>
The pelon mattress in the figure consists of a layer 1 of foam of synthetic or natural material with open cells.
By an open-cell foam is meant a foam of which a high percentage, for example about 89% of the cells
<EMI ID = 7.1>
<EMI ID = 8.1>
Layer 1, which forms the main thickness of the mattress, is provided at least on one side, but in reality and by need for symmetry on its two sides, with a layer of less thickness 2 made of perforated foam with channels 3. The latter foam is a closed cell material, which is important since in this way even minimal air circulation can be ensured in the patient's body thanks to the movements which are imparted by the latter to the mattress.
Sufficient air change is achieved at this level precisely because air can circulate
sufficient in the thickness of layer 1, air which
is sucked or discharged as the case may be through the channels 3 formed in the layer 2 of fennec cell foam. If the latter foam were an open-cell material, it would be less easy to ensure the desired circulation in the channels 3.
The effect of air circulation at the level of the use face of the mattress itself, thus making it possible to combat the necrosis effects of the stagnant air between this mattress or cushion and the body which rests on them. this
is further significantly improved by the provision in
less on the useful surface of the mattress or cushion of a heavily perforated or knitted fabric 4. In practice, it is more <EMI ID = 9.1>
simple to surround the entire mattress or cushion
or at least in its area of use, an envelope
knitted or the like.
The ventilated layer resulting from the presence of said
knit or similar material on the surface of the mattress
is most important.
Thanks to the very specific provisions
with a view to producing the mattress according to the invention and to the interaction of these various measures with one another, a surprising increase in traffic has appeared in the desired direction with a view to fighting against the appearance or development of bedsores.
The invention is not however limited to the embodiment described and many modifications could
be made without departing from the scope of this application
patent. Thus, mattresses giving satisfactory results can be obtained by making use only of open-cell or closed-cell foam; such embodiments have only been partially described herein.
