Abstract

Reaction of an epoxy cpd. with a phenol is effected in the presence of a 3-(trihydrocarbylphosphoranylidene)-2,5-pyrrolidine-dione as catalyst. The reaction prodts. can be cured with polyfunctional crosslinking agents to give surface coatings, laminate adhesives, and similar prodts. Pref. 0.05-5 wt.% (based on epoxy cpd. and phenol) of catalyst is used.
