Abstract

Protective coating material consists of a mixture of (I) a curable film-forming compsn. consisting of (a) a silicone component with an av. of 1-1.9 monovalent organic gps. bonded to each Si atom by C-Si bonds, at least 25 mole.% of the gps. contng. organic gps., (b) a polylactone component in which at least 40 mole.% of the lactone units have the formula: -(CR2)-5COO (where R is H or hydrocarbyl), and (c) an organic coating resin component, (II) a liquid diluent, and opt. (III) a cross-linking agent and the usual additives. For coating many types of substrates e.g. metals, thermosetting resins, paper, wood and glass. Esp. steel.
