Abstract

An epoxy cpd. contg. at least one epoxy grp. in the molecule is reacted with an unsatd. monobasic acid e.g. (meth)acrylic acid, in presence of an addition cpd. on a sec. amine and an acid (e.g. dimethylamine hydrochloride) as catalyst. An accelerator contg. an org. peroxide and an org. Co cpd. may be present as hardener. Reaction is effected with heating. A comonomer is present e.g. styrene. The products combine desirable characteristics of unsatd. polyesters with those of epoxy resins and may be used as coatings, linings, mouldings, in laminations.
