Abstract
1394207 Ammoxidation process RHONEPOULENC SA 8 Sept 1972 [9 Sept 1971] 41922/72 Heading C2C Unsaturated aliphatic nitriles, e.g. crotonitrile, fumaronitrile and maleonitrile, are produced by passing 1,3-butadiene, ammonia and molecular oxygen over an ammoxidation catalyst at 200‹ to 600‹ C. at atmospheric pressure or above. The catalyst may be a compound containing oxygen and at least one metal selected from Groups IB, IIB, IIIB, IVB, VB, VIB, VIIB or VIII of the Periodic Table or from the lanthanide or actinide groups, or a compound containing oxygen, antimony and one metal selected from iron, manganese, cobalt, tin and uranium.
