Abstract

The invention comprises 1-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetrachlorocyclohexan carbonitrile and its corresponding carbonamide, 1-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetrachlorocyclohexan carbonamide. The carbonitrile is prepared by treating 2,2,6,6-tetrachlorocyclohexanone with hydrogen cyanide and the carbonamide is prepared by hydrolysing the carbonitrile or by hydrolysing 1,2,2,6,6 - pentachlorocyclohexanecarbonitrile.
