Abstract
Ferrous scrap is melted in a vessel whose bottom and/or lateral walls have >=1 double coaxial tube tuyere and whose bottom is pref. inclined and has a m etal outlet. Ferrous scrap is loaded into the vessel and melted by blowing O2 pref. through the central tubes and liquid full pref. through the periperal tubes in ratios of 1.5-3Nm2, O2/kg fuel. Blowing is carried out simultaneously through the central and peripheral tubes and molten metal is evacuated from the vessel as it is produced.
