Abstract

A frit for glazing low expansion white ware consists of Li2O 4-23 wt.%, MgO 0-6 (0.74 pts. MgO replacing 1 pt. Li2O when MgO is used, but with minimum of 4% Li2O being used), Al2O3 17-40, SiO2 36-74 (total Li2O + MgO + Al2O3 + SiO2 is 80-95%), ZrO2 0-5, flux 5-20 (total ZrO2 + flux is 5-20%). The expansion coefficient of the glaze is less than 5 x 10-6/degrees C.
