Abstract
914,250. Optical glass compositions. LEITZ G.m.b.H., ERNST. Jan. 31, 1961 [Feb. 13, 1960], No. 3625/61. Drawings to Specification. Class 56. An optical glass comprises a glass former and metal oxides in the following percentage by weight: glass former 30 to 45 of which B 2 O 3 +P 2 ) 5 amounts to at least 10, SiO 2 +P 2 O 5 amounts to at least 10, and P 2 O 5 amounts to 3 to 7; rare earth oxides, especially La 2 O 3 , and/or ThO 2 22 to 45, the amount of P 2 O 5 being dependent thereon in the following equation P 2 O 5 # 11-0.18 La 2 O 3 or other rare earth oxides and/or ThO 2 : alkaline earth oxides 13 to 35 with the following limitations MgO up to 5, CaO up to 20, SrO up to 25, BaO up to 30. Additionally up to 26% of oxides of Zn, Cd, Zr, Pa and/or Nb may be used with the following limitations ZnO and/or CdO up to 10, ZrO 2 up to 6.5, Pa 2 O 5 and/or Nb 5 O 5 up to 10; and also Al 2 O 3 up to 2.5; In 2 O 3 up to 10; SnO 2 up to 2.5. Meta and/or ortho phosphates of Group II are used in the mix.
