Abstract

The oxygen is pref. commercially pure. It is blown into the bath by blast pipes comprising two concentric tubes arranged at the bottom or in the wall of the converter. The oxidising gas jet is surrounded by a protective fluid injected between the two tubes. One or more additions of oxygen carriers are made at the beginning of the refining operation.
