Abstract

The bottom of the converter has a blast pipe consisting of two concentric tubes. The inner tube is used for blowing a highly oxidising gas or pure oxygen, and a cooling fluid is blown through the outer tube. The quantity of cooling fluid blown in is such, that the heat absorbed by it up to 1300 degrees C is between 220 and 350 k. Cal/Nm3 of O2 blown in, between 250 and 300 kCAl./Nm3.
