Abstract
Ther agglomerates are submitted to a preliminary thermal treatment consisting of rapid heating pref. in a fluidised sand bed, so that the exterior of the agglomerate is heated to a greated temperature than its plastic range. It is then cooled to form a rigid continuous casing of semi-cokified material. Suitably, the agglomerates are then made to descend a shaft furnace while hot gas is injected at the bottom at 1100 degrees C.
