In uncompressed state, tube has 1st segment of minimal section at a distance from tube end, and 2nd segment nearer end with section such that, from end forward 1st segment, dy/dx is negative and dz/dx + ve; x,y,z are respectively along long (flow) axis, in direction of minimal transverse dimension, and perp. to x and y. Compressing device acts on 1st segment.
