   DESCRIPTION.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  HEYDT Pierre Hortensia Albert Introduction of invention: Internal combustion engine valves arranged at an angle or vertically to the cylinder so as to eliminate the obstacle formed by the valve head during the admission or discharge of fresh gases or burned.
 EMI1.1

  ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯..¯..¯¯¯¯., .....

  The invention consists in improving the admission and the exhaust of fresh or burnt gases from internal combustion engines.

  By the current arrangement of the valves, the flow of gases to the inlet and to the exhaust is severely hampered by the bulk formed by the valve head, which bulkiness prevents easy and rapid flow of the gases.

  The invention consists in eliminating this obstacle as much as possible, by making the gases circulate in front of the valve head and not around it as at present.

   DESCRIPTION.

  To eliminate as much as possible the obstacle formed by the valve head, the valve is mounted at an angle or vertically relative to the cylinder, in the exhaust and the intake; The valve will be mounted so that the front of the valve head will be directed towards the exhaust or the intake, the back towards the cylinder. (Combustion chamber.) Following this arrangement the valve to be opened se- raised, the valve being raised, the gas flow will pass in front of the valve, easily and quickly, following the almost total elimination of the obstacle formed by the head of the valve, and will consequently have a better filling and evacuation of fresh or burnt gases, hence better engine @ ment.

  It can be seen that the assembly and the movement of the valve is just the reverse of the assembly and the actual movement.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 In order to be able to mount the valve in the engine, according to the principle of the invention, the valve will be carried in a valve guide mounted in the cylinder head. The diameter of the valve guide will be at least equal to the diameter of the valve. The valve guide may be cylindrical, conical or some other shape.

  If one wishes to eliminate or reduce the dimensions of the valve guide, one will have to resort to a decomposed valve, several elements.

  According to the invention the valve will have to be pushed by the spring on its seat, and pulled out as at present. To obtain this arrangement, the spring instead of being carried by the cylinder head and being stopped on the valve stem, which involves an upward thrust, the spring should be carried on the bottom of the valve stem and be stopped by a bridge or cap mounted on the cylinder head or the valve guide, which involves a downward thrust. The bridge or cap can act as a valve guide.

  For the sake of clarity, an embodiment of the valve arrangement according to the invention is described below, purely by way of illustration and not restrictively, with reference made to the accompanying drawings in which, the figure shows an arrangement of the valve. at an angle with respect to the cylinder, FIG. 2 shows an arrangement of the valve vertically with respect to the cylinder.

  In the execution of these figures: the 1, represents the inlet or exhaust - the 2, the cylinder head - the 3, the cylinder - the 4, the xxxxx valve head - the 5, the valve seat - the 6, the valve stem - 7, the valve guide - 8, the valve spring.
