Abstract

The invention relates to a ring forming a valve seat for a mixture intake valve of an internal combustion engine. In order to eliminate the stream (current) in the form of a boundary layer (wall film) in an intake duct (1) using simple but effective measures, the ring forming the valve seat (6) for the intake valve (2) includes an annular peripheral narrowed part (8) which decreases the passage cross section in the shape of a funnel and which forms an interrupting edge (9). The said narrow part (8) is designed so that the liquid fuel entrained by the flow from the interruption edge (9) reaches the rear side (3) of the valve head (4) of the intake valve (2), from where it is displaced by the flow towards the limit of the valve head (4) which then acts as an interruption edge.
