MOTEUR A COMBUSTION INTERNE A INJECTION DIRECTE [0001] L'inventionINTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH DIRECT INJECTION [0001] The invention
The present invention more particularly relates to compression ignition type engines operating according to the Diesel cycle. The present invention also relates to a piston for internal combustion engine to achieve such a motor. [0003] US Pat. No. 5,150,677 or US Pat. No. 5,868,112 discloses a direct fuel injection engine comprising a casing in which several cylinders are arranged, pistons slid into the cylinders and a cylinder head that closes. upper end of the housing. The cylinder head comprises for each cylinder: intake and exhaust ducts selectively closed by at least one (preferably two) intake valve mounted in the cylinder head, at least (preferably two) a valve of exhaust mounted in the cylinder head. A fuel injector is also housed in the cylinder head facing each of the cylinders, this injector opening into the lower part of the cylinder head facing the cylinder, approximately in the center thereof. The pistons are shaped to have on their upper face facing the cylinder head, a central cavity shaped bowl shaped surrounded by an annular hunting area. For each cylinder, the combustion chamber of this type of engine is thus formed by the surface of the cylinder head facing the cylinder, the cylindrical upper wall of the housing facing the cylinder head and the upper surface of the piston. The shape of this combustion chamber depends on the quality of the preparation of the fuel mixture and from there, the quality of combustion. This form is therefore carefully studied especially vis-à-vis the jet of fuel injected and the positioning of the intake and exhaust valves. Many forms of profile of the bowl formed in the piston head have been proposed both for the purpose of improving the performance of the piston as in that of limiting smoke emissions related to poor removal of soot. In general, the direct injection diesel combustion chambers under high pressure or common rail currently used, have the following features: - the piston bowl is axisymmetric and vertical axis: it comprises a central portion or raised nipple connecting to a side or exterior wall that may be vertical or have a concavity. The central portion may be alpha corner cone shaped, as shown in the patents mentioned above; exceptionally, the side portion can be flared, as shown in US4662319, US4161165 or US4242948, but the preference generally goes to a concave shape, and thus forms a narrowing of the diameter on the upper part of the generally called lateral lip surface. the injector sends azimuthally several jets (at least four) of fuel under high pressure (a pressure greater than 600 bars) arranged on a cone of beta angle, called the lap angle, and of axis coinciding with the bolus axis, this fuel injection device in the combustion chamber traditionally has a single layer of fuel jets; - The main injection is near the top dead center (TDC), that is to say when the upper part of the piston is close to the plane of the cylinder head; the fuel axes intersect the lateral surface of the bowl when the piston is at top dead center, as can be seen for example in the figures of document US Pat. No. 4,635,597, and the result is a vortex movement with a horizontal axis intended to deflect the mixture of first down then the center of the bowl, and finally towards the breech. It was generally believed that this prior art was generally satisfactory. However, further studies of the combustion process have allowed the applicant to note an incomplete use of the volume of the cavity by the combustion at high speed: oxygen remains unused, which degrades the combustion, and therefore the emissions polluting. It is possible to improve the distribution of fuel in the combustion chamber using an injector having the particularity of allowing the creation of two layers of fuel jets (at least four jets per sheet), called bi-layer injector . The bi-layer injector also allows the improvement of the fuel spraying, beneficial for the reduction of pollutant emissions, by reducing the diameter of the holes, thanks to the multiplication of the number of holes for a total hydraulic flow given the injector. This type of injector thus allows the fuel to be injected into the combustion chamber according to two plies: a first ply known as an open-angle ply and a second ply known as a narrow-angle ply. In patent FR 2868480, it was thus proposed an improvement to internal combustion engines comprising a housing having a cylindrical bore with a piston housed in this bore, a cylinder head, a fuel injector, driven by electronic means of control, and adapted to inject the fuel according to a first and / or a second separate web. According to this French patent, the piston bowl, that is to say the cavity intended to cooperate with the plies during the passage of the piston near the top dead center, is shaped to present two annular grooves, essentially located on the walls side of the bowl, these grooves being separated by a redan and being arranged to receive each respectively one of the fuel plies. Such a configuration of the piston bowl is adapted to an operation sometimes with a single sheet, generally the most open web, especially when the running point of the engine is relatively lightly loaded, or with the two sheets during operation at high speed and high load. It was however observed that such a configuration was not optimal because even at low speed, it was possible to observe a confinement of the combustion in a reduced zone of the bowl, thus a misuse of the cylinder area when the piston goes down. It would therefore be desirable to further improve the overall compromise, including the levels of performance, consumption and combustion noise. The present invention therefore aims an internal combustion engine with an overall compromise between the levels of performance, combustion and combustion noise further improved, and this in particular due to a better distribution of fuel in the room of combustion. This object is achieved according to the invention by an improvement to internal combustion engines comprising a housing having a cylindrical bore, a cylinder head, a piston (housed in said bore), a fuel injector, controlled by electronic means of control, and adapted to inject the fuel in a first and a second separate ply, the piston having a cavity, intended to cooperate with said plies during the passage of the piston in the vicinity of the top dead center, having a central protuberance facing the injector. According to the invention the cavity comprises an annular redan delimiting an annular bowl surrounding the central protuberance and a lateral annular groove surrounding the annular bowl, the lateral annular groove being arranged to receive the first ply and the annular bowl being arranged to receive the second tablecloth. The invention thus differs from the known invention of the patent FR 2868480 by the use of a bowl whose bottom and not the side wall comprises two concentric hollow zones surrounding the central protuberance (pin), these receiving zones. relatively narrower fuel layers, irrespective of the operating point of the engine. In a more particularly preferred embodiment of the engine object of the present invention, the first and second fuel plies are substantially conical and substantially coaxial, the first ply enveloping the second ply. Advantageously, the first ply has at the top an angle between 110 and 175 and the second ply has at the vertex an angle less than the apex angle of the first ply and between 30 and 160. According to another preferred feature of the engine object of the invention, the cavity comprises a lip separating the lateral annular groove of the piston part closest to the cylinder head, the lip thus ending the opening of the bowl by a narrowing the diameter of the bowl which allows an optimization of the hunting area. The lip is for example arranged to be impacted by the first web, or at least the point of impact of the web N1 in the lateral annular groove is located near the lip. Advantageously, the maximum radius R7 of the lateral groove, and the minimum radius R8 at the lip, are such that the ratio R7 - R8 R7 is between 0.05 and
0.25. Furthermore, the ratio between the radius of the annular step at its nearest point of the plane of the cylinder head and the maximum radius of the annular groove is between 0.3 and 0.6. The bowl and the groove preferably have relatively similar depths, in a ratio more generally between 0.5 and 1.5. The annular redan delimiting the bowl of the annular groove has a very straight wall side bowl, forming an angle with the line passing through the top and parallel to the axis of symmetry of the bowl an angle between 20 and -10 (In other words, the redan can possibly form a return similar to a lip). Furthermore, the height H4 of the annular redan at its top and the depth of the bowl are preferably in a ratio such that it satisfies the relationship H2 - H4 between 0, 2 and 0.5. H2 [0026] According to another characteristic, the engine object of the invention is such that the two sheets are also widely spaced angularly. Therefore, just as the ply N1 intersects the annular groove preferably near the lip, the ply N2 will intersect the bowl preferably on the side of the central protuberance, or in other words, the cavity satisfies the relation Al> beta2 / 2 , beta2 being the apex angle of the second ply N2 and A1 the half-angle of the central protuberance. The present invention and its advantages will be better understood from the study of the detailed description of an embodiment given by way of non-limiting example and illustrated by the accompanying drawings, in which: - Figure 1 represents a schematic and partial sectional view of an internal combustion engine; - Figures 2, 3a and 3b show a schematic and partial sectional view of a bi-nappe injector; FIG. 4 represents a partial view in axial section specifying the embodiment of the shape of a piston according to the invention; - Figure 5 shows a detailed view of the embodiment of the piston shown in Figure 4 specifying the impact zones of the fuel jets, 5 when the piston is in the vicinity of the neutral point. In Figure 1, the housing of the engine 1 according to the invention comprises a cylinder 2 provided with a bore 3. The cylinder 2 is closed at its upper end by a yoke 4 overlying said housing. A piston 5 is slidably mounted in the bore 3 of the cylinder 2. Between the upper surface 6 of the piston 5, the top of the bore 3 and the lower surface facing the cylinder head 4, there is a combustion chamber 7. The yoke 4 comprises admission gas intake means formed by at least one duct 8 opening into the roof of the chamber 7 through an opening 9 cooperating with a control valve 10 adapted to be actuated between a closed position of closing the opening 9 and an open position of admission of the gases. The valve 10 comprises a control rod 11 and a frustoconical shaped closure head 12 whose inclined peripheral surface comes into contact with a corresponding surface of the valve seat opening 9 to close the opening 9. 0030] The cylinder head 4 comprises means for exhausting the flue gases formed by at least one exhaust duct 13 opening into the roof of the chamber 7 through an opening 14 able to be closed by a control valve 15 comprising a rod actuator 16 and a closure head 17. [0031] The yoke 4 also comprises a fuel injection means formed by a piloted injector 18 receiving at an external inlet the fuel under a suitable pressure and having at one end in protruding into the chamber 7 an injection head 19 adapted to spray the fuel in the form of fine droplets in the chamber 7 at the appropriate time determined by the engine control system not figured, which particular driver injection time and injection duration (that is to say the amount injected). The piston 5 comprises a head 20 whose upper surface 6 facing the yoke forms the bottom wall of the chamber 7, and a skirt 21 for guiding the piston in translation in the cylinder 2. The piston 5 also comprises a fixing lug comprising an axis on which is fixed the head of a connecting rod making it possible to convert the translational movement of the piston 5 into rotational movement of a crankshaft, not shown in FIG. 1. [0033] During the rotation of the crankshaft of the engine, the piston 5 moves between a position of bottom dead center, or PMB, remote from the cylinder head 4, and a top dead center position, or PMH, close to the cylinder head 4. [0034] Referring FIGS. 2, 3a and 3b show the injection head 19 of the central fuel injector 18. [0035] This injection head 19 of the twin-sheet type has a first series of holes 191 intended to produce a first conical layer of fuel N1, with betal top. This sheet N1 is formed, for example, by at least four holes and therefore four jets of fuel. The injection head 19 of bi-sheet type has a second series of holes 192, formed under the series of holes 191 or the same level, in the direction of the piston. This second series of holes being intended to produce a second conical layer of fuel N2, with an angle at the top beta2. This sheet N2 is formed, for example, by at least four holes and therefore four jets of fuel. The first ply N1 has an apex angle beta1 between 110 and 175, and the point of concurrence of its jets is located at a distance D21 from the joint plane of the yoke 4. The second ply N2 has an angle at beta2 vertex between 30 and 160 degrees, and the point of competition of its jets is located at a distance D22 of the joint plane of the cylinder head 4. The distances D21 and D22 are dependent on the geometry of the injector and its location in the breech. There are different possibilities to arrange the holes 191 of the first ply N1 and the holes 192 of the second ply N2, with respect to each other. A first embodiment shown in Figure 3a is to arrange the holes so that the jets are superimposed. In this case, the second set of holes 192 will necessarily be arranged under the first set of holes 191. In a second embodiment shown in Figure 3b, the holes are arranged in staggered rows. In this second embodiment, the two sets of holes may be coplanar or not. The injector 18 is shaped to be controlled by the engine control system to operate the fuel injection according to the plies N1, N2 and according to the operating point of the engine. Referring to Figures 4 and 5, the upper surface 6 of the piston 5 comprises a central cavity 22. In the illustrated example, this cavity 22 is surrounded by a substantially flat circular hunting zone 23 facing the corresponding lower surface of the cylinder head 4. This hunting zone presented extending perpendicularly to the axis of the piston could obviously not be. In the embodiment of Figure 4, taken by way of non-limiting example, the central cavity 22 is symmetrical of revolution along a main axis parallel to the main axis of the piston 5, these two axes can be either separate, or confused. This cavity 22 is formed from its opening of a curved wall 24 also called lip, an annular groove 25 also called lateral groove, then another annular groove, also called lower bowl 26, located on the wall of bottom of the central cavity 22, the two annular grooves being separated by a second curved wall also called redan 27, and finally in the center of a central protuberance 28, also called pin. The stud 28 is, for example, conically shaped and its rounded top is shaped to be at a distance H5 from the upper face of the piston 6. This conical stud 28 is adapted to have a half-angle at the top Al substantially adjacent but greater than beta2 / 2, the half-angle at the top of the second ply N2, and a positioning adapted for the second ply N2 to sweep it and thus be directed towards the bottom of the groove 26. [0054] the embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the maximum depths of the cavity 22 are respectively defined by the quantities H1 at the right of the lateral groove 25, and H2 at the right of the lower bowl 26, the minimum depths are respectively defined by the quantities H4 at the redan 27 and H5 at the stud 28. R7 represents the maximum radius and R8 the minimum radius of the cavity 22. Finally, R9 represents the radial position of the redan 27. Referring to FIG. the figure 5, we see the interaction of the two fuel plies N1 and N2 and the cavity 22. This situation corresponds to a high load operation where the amount of fuel injected is the largest, superimposed configuration. To promote the preparation of the air / fuel mixture necessary for the smooth running of the combustion, it is important that the sheet N2 well fills the lower bowl 26 and does not interfere directly with the N1 web. It is also important that the sheet N1 properly fills the lateral groove 25, then, when the piston departs from the top dead center correctly feeds the hunting zone 23. This distribution is ensured by the lip which allows, according to the axial position of the piston, to direct the fuel from the sheet N2 either to the lateral groove 25 or to the hunting zone 23. In order to optimize this distribution of fuel, it is necessary to ensure that the ratio between the thickness of the lip, represented by the difference between the maximum radius R7 of the lateral annular groove 25 and the minimum radius R8 at the lip 24, and the maximum radius R7 of the lateral annular groove 25, is well proportioned, that is, the ratio (R7-R8) / R7 is between 0.05 and 0.25. Thus, we have a geometry to obtain the rotation of the fuel from the N1 ply along a horizontal axis in the lateral groove 25 as shown in Figure 5, and a good guidance of the fuel from the tablecloth N1 towards the bottom of the hunting zone 23 when the piston 5 is in a position which allows the jets of the sheet N1 to be intersected by the upper surface 6 of the piston 5. On the other hand, it is necessary to ensure that the ratio between the radius R9 of the position of the step 27 and the maximum radius R7 of the lateral annular groove 25 is well proportioned, which is particularly the case when the ratio R9 / R7 is between 0.3 and 0.6. Likewise, it is advantageous to ensure that the ratio between the maximum depth H 1 of the lateral annular groove 25 and the maximum depth H2 of the annular cup 26 is well proportioned, that is to say that the ratio H 1 / H2 is between 0.5 and 1.5. Respecting these two constraints makes it possible to obtain a good distribution of the available volumes for each sheet, which makes it possible to obtain comparable levels of richness in each of the two zones formed by the lateral groove 25 and the annular basin 26, without having to differentiate too much the hydraulic flows of each sheet, thus avoiding too small diameters of holes, and thus difficult to achieve. In addition, in order to optimally optimize the direction of the fuel from the N 2 sheet from the annular bowl 26, it is necessary to properly proportion the angle A2 of the rectilinear portion between the annular bowl 26 and the redan 27, defined with respect to a reference line taken parallel to the axis of the bowl, that is to say that the angle A2 is between +20 and -10 according to the trigonometric convention. In addition, in order to give a good dynamic fuel from the N2, while giving the fuel a precise direction, it is necessary to properly proportion the height of the redan, represented by the difference between the minimum height H4 at right of said step 27 and the maximum depth H2 of the annular cup 26, with respect to this last maximum depth H2 of the annular cup 26, so that the ratio (H2 - H4) / H2 is between 0.2 and 0, 5. Finally, to ensure that the sheet N2 is intersected by the stud 28 when the piston is close to the top dead center, it is necessary that the angle Al of the stud 28 is greater than the half-angle beta2 / 2 of the tablecloth N2, so that the relation Al> beta / 2 is respected.
