<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Tapes and cards-index cards and file-binder for these tapes and cards
The present invention relates to the tapes which are in the form of sheets or rolls and are intended to contain data or information, these tapes being held on a support frame or panel.
Until now, plug-in systems have consisted of relatively rigid support frames or panels constructed mostly of metal and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
containing flexible but rather thick bands,
In such systems ... retainers are formed by folding the edges inward or by securing the strips along their opposite sides by riveting or welding; the strips are held in these channels by friction and they are held together. are prevented from overlapping due to their thickness; but such tapes are stiff and bulky and poorly suited to modern data processing installations.
The present invention relates to a material for tapes in continuous form (intended for a typewriter, a tabulator, an addressing machine and any high-speed machine for printing data on tapes), this material can be separated into individual strips which are held in a frame or support panel.
More specifically, the present invention relates to strips and plug cards provided with tabs intended to hold them on a frame or support panel, these plug strips not running the risk of overlapping, especially when they are made of a thin material such as , for example, paper of normal thickness and strength, said sheets., relatively
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
thin and narrow, which can easily be introduced into and crumpled into a frame or panel of the support, and can also easily slide along the channels of this frame, means being provided for retaining these thin and narrow strips on a frame and to adjust the overlap of neighboring card strips,
without disturbing any part of the surface intended to receive data.
The invention also relates to a relatively flexible support frame or panel for tapes and cards capable of being arranged in loose-leaf binders.
Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will emerge from the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawings and giving, by way of explanation but in no way limiting, various forms of implementation of the invention.

tion, the edge 18 is a zercame inward from the perforation line 13 to simplify the fabrication of the sheets, since all the perforations and the attachment of the various diamonds can be accomplished in a single operation.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
But the present invention also covers the case where the line of the perforations 13 is inwardly relative to the edge 18, In this case, to facilitate the introduction, it is the underside of the bands, sum shown in the various figures. , which would become the visible face of the tape.
Figures 8 and 9 show an embodiment in which the non-collated legs are directed inward. The plug strip dle is made in a single sheet 15c of suitable thickness and stiffness and of sufficient width to include the machine feed strips 14, attached to two strips 25c, forming tabs and located at a suitable distance, along the bonding areas 16c.
The non-glued areas 20 thus constitute inwardly directed tabs which are introduced into outwardly directed flanges, on a support panel flanges which are directed in the opposite direction to the flanges used in the previous embodiments.
Detachable feed strips 14 are not essential. Sheets 10 may be made initially with side edges 13 and feed perforations disposed inwardly of these edges. In this case, the feed perforations remain in place. permanence on each strip, Likewise, the perforation lines 12 can be omitted

These perforations completed. Menteires determine tabs 26 and 27 in the underlayer 17 at each end of the strips 11d, on the outside of the adhesive zone 16.
The line of perforations 13-1 or coincides approximately with the adhesive line 19, the tab 26, which is completely surrounded by perforations ;, can be removed., Leaving the tab 27 in place to support the plug strip, when 1 , 'we want there to be an overlap.
When the plug strip 11d, of the overlapping type is produced without the provision of removable machine feed bands 14, the tab 26 can be completely torn off the diaper 17. This embodiment is variable and this embodiment can be extended to card files. However, when applied to the maps of ty.
eg known, it may be more advantageous to use another form of (as shown in Figures 11 and 12), the card file 11e, A card having a part 15el for mounting and a part 15e2 for the the recording comprises a strip 17a of suitable material and of suitable width bonded to the face

But, if desired, we can close: .- the ends of these grooves or channels by gluing them along the entire width of the edges 31 as shown at 35. It is possible to provide holes 36 in one edge of the support panel 30 for allow the introduction of the tapes, just as one introduces the sheets in a movable sheet binder. In the latter case, it may be good to provide that there will be plugs on both sides of the support panel, and for this we have strips 31 on both sides of the panel 32.
Alternatively, a channel can be made on one or the other or on both edges of the support panel 30 by folding over an edge 31a of the support panel 32 and gluing the contacting surfaces along the adhesive areas 33. commo shown in figure 15.
