Cette solution est agitée avec 100 ml d'acide chlorhydrique dilué.
L'irehdiamine est en solution aqueuse acide, tandis que la monoamine reste dans le solvant. La solution aqueuse est alcalinisée par l'ammoniaque puis extraite par le chlorure de méthylène. Ce solvant est séché sur sulfate de sodium et distillé à siccité.
Le résidu est recristallisé dans 50 ml d'hexane.
On obtient 3,2 g de produit fondant à 148 C.
