<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
'L'invention propose de réaliser le système de verrouillage de manière à pouvoir l'employer aussi bien pour des dispositifs de manoeuvre commandé d'un seul coté que pour des dispositifs de manoeuvre qui peuvent être actionnés des deux c8tés et que l'on peut desserrer également! à partir de la face opposée du véhicule, tout en assurant une possibilité suffisante des mouvements de rotation et de pivotement du tringlage,
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Locking system for the linkage of the operating device of a vehicle coupling on rails.
The invention relates to a locking system for the linkage of the operating device of the hitch. lage of a vehicle on rails, in particular for a maneuvering device which can be operated from both sides of the vehicle, and is intended for an automatic coupling, movable in all directions, for a central stopper, with mounting of the linkage at a fixed point on the front face of the vehicle, so as to provide sufficient pivoting and rotation possibilities, but only limited axial displacement with respect to this fixed point.
Locking systems are already known intended for maneuvering devices, which can only be operated from one side, for couplings of vehicles on rails, in which the rod? is mounted in two fixed bearings, allowing a motacion, sufficient @@

@ te, on the front of the vehicle.
Bans these maneuvering devices, the slack is released from the. , well known manner by tilting upwards an angled operating handle which, by means of a linkage, a chain and a piece of chain transmits the tilting movement to the camshaft or release and the latter to the pawl and lock or lock of the coupling, which causes the locking of the coupling to swing into the housing.
In the position called the maneuvering position, it is necessary to keep the linkage in this position with the maneuver handle tilted upwards.
For this purpose, the linkage bearing, on the front face of the vehicle, outside with respect to the hitch of the central stopper, is provided in the known manner, at the lowest point of its cylindrical bore, with a Rectangular notch open at the top of the side of the bearing bore, notch in which the collar of the linkage is fitted, flattened on both sides near the operating handle. If the collar of the linkage is introduced into.
this notch in the bearing bore when the lever handle is tilted upwards, the linkage is locked and prevents any rotational movement.
This already known locking system is however only suitable for maneuvering devices which can only be actuated from one side of the vehicle and do not allow the locking of the linkage to be released from the other side of the vehicle.
The aim of the invention is to provide a system for locking the linkage of the operating device @ of the coupling of a vehicle on rails, a simple and robust system, inexpensive to manufacture and easy to operate,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
'The invention proposes to achieve the locking system so that it can be used both for maneuvering devices controlled on one side only for maneuvering devices which can be operated from both sides and which can be operated on both sides. also loosen! from the opposite side of the vehicle, while ensuring sufficient possibility of the rotational and pivoting movements of the linkage,
according to movements in all directions of the head of the coupling. according to the invention, to obtain this possibility of pivoting the linkage, instead of using the two usual bearings to support the linkage, as in the known devices, one simply places? a single bearing, preferably with a cylindrical bore, at a fixed point on the front face of the vehicle. In the usual way, this bearing is axially traversed by the linkage of the operating device. Inside the bore of the bearing) there is provided, on the periphery of the linkage, a shoulder in the form of a beak or a cam which projects radially and in which a notch or detent is machined.
At the base of the bearing and being able to pivot around a horizontal axis parallel to the axis of the linkage, for example around a spindle, a locking pawl with two arms is placed.
One of the arms of this locking pawl carries a lug or similar piece located on the side of the linkage. This lug is adjusted in the stop notch of the shoulder disposed radially at the periphery of the linkage and is lodged in this stopper to determine the locking position. At the same time, the lever arm of the pawl ends at its free end with a handle, so as to be able to swing it easily around a horizontal axis in the bearing and thus to make the part pivot. The landing is provided with a notch c. orvert @@ a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
passade, in which the locking pawl enters.
The lever arm opposite the handle forms a stop @ which comes to rest against a part of the frame of the bearing and thus limits the pivoting movement of the locking pawl about its horizontal axis downwards. So that the linkage, which is articulated on the head of the coupling, can pivot sufficiently in the bearing, a certain clearance is provided between the linkage and its bearing point in the bearing.
A certain clearance is also provided between the inner walls of the bearing and the shoulder in the form of a cam or a nose placed radially at the periphery of the linkage, so that this shoulder, during the pivoting movements of the linkage, can also pivot around a point located approximately in the center of the bearing. It is for this reason that the shoulder must have sufficient freedom of movement in the bearing.
If the bearing and therefore the pivot point of the linkage are placed in the vicinity of the side face of the vehicle, the possible presence of a side stopper or the like can severely limit the pivot angle of the linkage and then it is better to place. the bearing below or at least close to this side stop or similar part of the vehicle on rails.
The invention will be explained below with the aid of an exemplary embodiment.

When, in the maneuvering position, do you want to lock? the linkage 2. the operating handle of the linkage 2 is rotated by approximately 120, from the downwardly directed position shown in FIG. 1, into an upwardly directed position.
