<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Bean harvesting machine
The invention relates to a machine for harvesting beans; as we know, this machine is equipped with a rotating picking drum. It has teeth which, as it moves along a row, penetrate the bean plants and raise them with the foliage. The efficiency of such a machine depends on the efficiency of its collecting drum. It can be increased by increasing the speed of the drum. However, this has the disadvantage of further damaging the beans: The efficiency of a machine with the drum rotating at a relative speed. reduced and therefore 'less damage to the beans is increased' by installing a second drum, offset behind the first and rotating at about the same speed as the latter.
However, this leads to the drawback of extending the machine and hampering its mobility. In front of the second drum, like
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in front of the first, a pair of bulky rectifiers is installed. These serve to straighten the bean plants in each row from both sides and bring them back into the gap between the two elements * In known machines of this kind, the axle carrying the wheels is mounted behind the second drum .
The present invention relates to a bean harvesting machine equipped with two picking drums. According to the invention, the axle carrying the two wheels of the machine is placed behind the front drum and in front of the rear drum. This offers the important advantage that the machine operating with two drums is essentially shorter and therefore more mobile than the machine mentioned above in which the axle is behind the second drum.
In the machine of the invention, the product collected by the drums, that is to say the beans and the foliage, is thrown onto a conveyor belt mounted transversely to the step of the vehicle. This belt deposits the harvested product, at the end of its journey, on another belt placed longitudinally on the machine. The harvested product undergoes a preliminary cleaning by means of a fan installed under the transverse belt. Each of the longitudinal bands leads the product having undergone a preliminary cleaning to another cleaning device installed at the end of the path of each conveyor belt. . This device comprises, in the known manner, a blower with an air duct as well as a separating device, known per se, for beans placed side by side.
According to the invention, this known cleaning device is installed between the ends of the two longitudinal bands * The invention will be explained with reference to the appended drawing, where: FIG. 1 schematically shows a front view of the parts

the most important of the machine; Figure 2 is a plan view corresponding to Figure 1; @ Figure 3 is a front view corresponding to Figure 1.
Each collecting drum 1 l 'throws the harvested product onto a conveyor belt 2,2' mounted transversely to the running of the machine. At the end of each belt, the product is thrown onto a lower longitudinal conveyor belt 3, 3 '. Under the end of the transverse bands 2 and 2 'there is a fan for the preliminary cleaning of the harvested product.
The axle 7 is mounted behind the front drum 1 and in front of the rear drum 1 '. The longitudinal axis ae each of the drums is arranged in the direction ue running of the machine. The longitudinal axis of the rear drum is placed behind axle 7, next to it.
The cleaning device 5 is installed between the ends of the two longitudinal conveyor belts 3, 3 '.
A collecting tank 6 or a bagging device (not shown) is mounted in the known manner behind the cleaning installation.
