<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

partial of a fourth embodiment of the object of the invention.
Figure 5 is a plan view of the embodiment of Figure 4.
The fibure 6 is an elevational view, with partial break-away, of a fifth embodiment of the object of the invention.
Figure 7 is an elevational view of a sixth embodiment of the object of the invention.
In the various figures, the same reference numerals denote similar elements.
The safety lamp for motorists comprises a tube 1. of white polymethyl methacrylate surmounted by a head 2 of red polymethyl methacrylate. Tube 1 is blocked at both ends by discs 3 and 4.
The disc 3 forms the separation between the interior of the head 2 and the interior of the tube 1, the head 2 being threaded over the latter. The disc 3 serves at the same time as a support for light bulbs 5 and 6 mounted on each of the two surfaces of the disc 3 by means of fixing terminals 7.
The bulb 5 is intended to continuously illuminate the white tube 1, while the bulb 6 is intended to illuminate the red head 2 in an interrupted manner and gives a flashing light. The flashing of the light of the bulb 6 is carried out by a suitable device 8, mounted on the disc 4 constituting the base of the safety lamp, this device 8 alternately causes the interruption and the closing of the part of the lamp. an electric circuit 9 supplying the bulb 6.
The two bulbs 5 and 6 being arranged in parallel, the circuit 9 essentially comprises two conducting wires 10 and 11 leaving the tube 1 through an opening made in the disc 4, the conducting wire 10 comprising two branches 12 and 13 respectively connected to the bulb 5 and 6, the device being interposed on the branch
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
12. The conductive wire 11 is connected directly to the bulbs 5 and 6. The free ends of the wires 10 and 11 are each provided with an alligator clip 14 to make the connection to the battery of a motor vehicle,
The security lamp shown in Figure 1 is provided at its base with a fixing member 15 consisting of a clamp comprising a first arm 16 integral with the lamp and a second arm 17 articulated to the arm 16.
This clamp 15 is intended to allow the security lamp, according to the invention, to be fixed to a gutter of a motor vehicle.
FIGS. 2 and 3 represent variants with regard to the fixing member 15 with which the lamps are provided, according to the invention.
The safety lamp according to FIG. 2 represents a fixing member 15 comprising two substantially parallel tabs 16 and 17 forming between them a slot 18 directed downwards and extending laterally with respect to the tube 1.
This slot 18 is intended to receive the upper burd of an opening window of a motor vehicle. The fixing member 15 is extended by a handle 19, in the free end of which is arranged, in a recess 20, an automatic switch 21 of the electric circuit 9 of the lamp. This switch 21 comprises a metal ball 22 movable, in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of the tube 1, in a housing 23, the walls of which are made of an insulating material.
This housing 23 has at its base a ring with two contacts 24 and 25, the internal diameter of the ring being at most equal to the diameter of the ball 22. The contacts 24 and
25 are interposed in series in the electric circuit 9 of the lamp. Thus, the electrical circuit 9 being tuned to an energy source, for example to the battery of a motor vehicle, when the tube 1 is arranged substantially vertical.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
ment, the handle 19 down, as has been shown in Figure 2, the ball 22 is located at the bottom of the housing 23, touches the two contacts 24 and 25 and therefore closes the electrical circuit 9, the lamp being on.
When the lamp is tilted or tilted down the ball 22 moves up the housing 23 and the circuit is automatically interrupted so that the light is turned off.
This switch 21 allows the electrical circuit to be constantly connected to the battery of a vehicle, which has an important advantage as regards the speed with which the lamp can be put into service. It suffices to straighten the lamp and place the fixing member 15 on the edge of the pane of an open window, the handle 19 facing inward, and to wedge this member 15 between the pane and the upper edge of the window. frame of the latter by reassembling it. The tube 1. surmounted by the wheeled head 2 is thus clearly visible outside the vehicle and is visible at a great distance.
FIG. 3 shows a safety lamp mounted on a motor vehicle and having a relatively simple fixing member 15. This member comprises a groove 16 in the form of a hook disposed laterally with respect to the tube 1 of the lamp and applying to the edge of a gutter 26 of a car 27. A suction cup 17 mounted below the groove re 16, on a flexible blade 28, is applied simultaneously against the window 29 of the car 27.
Figures 4 and 5 show a fourth embodiment in which the tube 1 is arranged on three feet 30, so as to allow the lamp to be placed, for example, on the ground.
Figure 6 relates to a safety lamp, in which the fixing member 15 consists of a metal strip.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
metallique folded in the form of a hook having two tabs 16 and 17 defining a slot 18 receiving the upper edge of a glass 29 of a vehicle 27, the member 15 being wedged between this edge and the frame of the window.
According to FIG. 7, the safety lamp has at its base feet 30 having at their ends vents or magnets 31, making it possible to apply the lamp, for example, to the roof 32 of a vehicle 27.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and that many additional variants can be envisaged without departing from the scope of the present patent.
This is how the fixing member can be articulated on the base of the tube, so as to allow orientation that
