Description

The present invention relates to a portable luminous device for night signaling.

It is known (see US Pat. No. 4,319,309) a portable night signaling device composed of at least one light source contained in a protective envelope characterized by means for causing the device to emit red light or yellow light and white light normal lighting and means for attaching the apparatus to the person by fixing it in any part of the person or a support and for grasping it.

The patent FR-A-860 720 refers to an apparatus according to the patent USA indicated below, also comprising devices for accumulating the energy of the battery supplying the light source during its extinction due to intermittence, and restoring it during the 'illumination.

The patents: GB-A-1 337 217, CH-A-357 466, U.S.-A-4210953 relate to details of the construction and use of portable night light signaling devices.

The apparatus according to the present invention differs from the known apparatuses in that it is characterized by an electric accumulator arranged in parallel with the battery and by an auxiliary light source having an electric power greater than that of the normal light source in order to compensate for the decrease in brightness due to intermittent.

  • la figure 1 est une vue de face de l'appareil;
  • la figure 2 est la coupe verticale établie selon le plan passant par le ligne II-II de la figure 3, les organes électriques étant enlevés;
  • la figure 3 montre l'appareil vu de l'arrière complété par les organes électriques mais cependant sans la plaque de protection;
  • la figure 4 montre l'appareil avec application d'un ruban pour sa fixation à une partie du corps humain convenant à la signalisation;
  • la figure 5 montre comment s'effectue le blocage de la plaquette de protection de l'appareil;
The appended drawing represents a preferred embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention and more specifically:
  • Figure 1 is a front view of the apparatus;
  • Figure 2 is the vertical section established along the plane passing through the line II-II of Figure 3, the electrical members being removed;
  • Figure 3 shows the device seen from the back completed by the electrical components but without the protective plate;
  • Figure 4 shows the apparatus with application of a tape for its attachment to a part of the human body suitable for signaling;
  • Figure 5 shows how to block the protective plate of the device;
  • Figure 6 is the electrical diagram of the complete device, compressing the accumulator and the auxiliary light source.

With reference to the figures, the apparatus comprises a transparent front envelope 1 colored in red and a transparent rear plate 2 colorless or colored in yellow. These two parts are made of plastic, acrylic or equivalent artificial material. To the casing 1 are connected four side walls 4,5, 6 and 7 of the same thickness between them.

Upwards, according to the drawing, there are provided in the envelope two parallel legs 8 and 9 of short length arranged at 90 ° relative to the front wall for blocking the threaded part of a lamp 10. These legs 8 and 9 are thin to allow the forced insertion between them of the lamp 10. They are integral to a certain point with the front wall 3 and therefore made flexible elastically and transversely to the front wall.

Ces piles peuvent s'introduire par pression élastique entre les pattes déjà mentionnées de faible longueur 8 et respectivement 9 d'une part et d'aurte part la face intérieure des parois latérales correspondantes 4 et 6.In the interval d, delimited by the upper edges la 8 ′, 9 ′ of said legs 8, 9 and by the face of the upper transverse wall 5 can be inserted with friction two metal strips 11 and 12 to make contact between the lamp 10 and a series of two batteries 13. and 14 of elongated cylindrical shape. These stacks can be introduced by elastic pressure between the legs already mentioned of short length 8 and respectively 9 on the one hand and on the other hand the inner face of the corresponding side walls 4 and 6.

To achieve optimum retention of the lamellae mentioned 11 and 12, provision has been made only for the inner face of the upper transverse wall 5 projecting from ribs 15 and 16 which reproduce the grooves established on the corresponding lamellae 11 and 12 (FIG. 3).

Parallel to the lower transverse wall 7 of the casing 1 there exists a separating wall 17 against which, with the interposition of a series of two other metal strips 18 and 19, bear the corresponding contacts of the two batteries 13 and 14 arranged in series to form a battery. Likewise, as provided for the legs 8 and 9, the separating partition 17 is thin so as to have a certain flexibility in the transverse direction, thus ensuring effective retention of the two batteries.

Advantageously, the envelope is established in a single piece.

A switch 20 is provided for sliding in an opening 21 formed in the lower base of the housing to establish or cut the electrical contact between the battery and the lamp. As a variant, a switch can be provided which makes it possible to supply the lamp 10 at constant voltage (continuous light) or, by means of a bimetallic switch 28 (FIG. 6) not shown in FIG. 3 of known type, for intermittent light. In the upper transverse wall 5 of the envelope is formed transversely a slot for guiding and passing a ribbon 22 or a suitable strip of resistant fabric.

A cet effet, à l'intérieur de l'enveloppe 1, une appendice 24 s'étend perpendiculairement à partir de la paroi frontale antérieure 3.This last strip, by means of an appropriate number of holes 23, formed in it, can be blocked relative to the device (Figure 4). To this end, inside the envelope 1, an appendage 24 extends perpendicularly from the front front wall 3.

In the appendix is made a threaded hole 25. With the use of a special screw 26, provided with a shoulder 26 'and a head 26 ", the ribbon 22 is folded up to form an armband or else to tighten around the waist while supporting the device.

As shown in Figure 5, in addition to serving to block the tape, the screw is used to fix the closure plate 2 of the envelope on its rear face. This plate, when the housing is red, is advantageously made of yellow or colorless material if you want to have yellow light, preferably intermittently tent that signals a danger or white light if there is reason to strongly illuminate objects.

Provision has been made for the envelope 1 and the plate 2 to be transparent and colorless while inside are housed two colored lamps comprising one red and the other yellow with an uncolored lamp.

After having carried out the apparatus and carried out the electrical measurements it was found that with two batteries 13 and 14 of 1.5 volts each, arranged in series and with a lamp 10 of approximately 1 Watt (Fig. 6), the current, after closure of the switch 20 and of the bimetallic switch 28, is 0.35 amperes, while after the activation of the bimetallic switch 28 it drops to an average value of 0.2 amperes, for 0, 5 seconds (lighting) followed by switching off for 1 second (period = 1.5 seconds).

This means that the light intensity of the lamp 10 is reduced to 57% of its normal value due to the activation of the bimetallic switch 28.

Figure imgb0001
To avoid the inconvenience, according to the present invention, there is, in parallel with the battery of the batteries 13, 14 and installed in the empty space 31 (fig. 3) of the apparatus, a small accumulator 27 (fig. 6 ) and a second lamp 30 (auxiliary lamp) whose filament can support a current
Figure imgb0001

The accumulator charges during the lamp 30 off period (1 second), and discharges, helping the battery 13, 14 during the lamp 30 illumination period (0.5 seconds) thereby delivering the 0.6 amp current required.

L'accumulateur doit pourtant livrer (0,6-0,2) =0,4 ampères pendant 0,5 secondes.However, the accumulator must deliver (0.6-0.2) = 0.4 amps for 0.5 seconds.

Its capacity is therefore 0.2 ampere-seconds and its weight around 1 gram! It is therefore perfectly placed with the auxiliary lamp 30, in the free place 31 (fig. 3) of the device.

The use of a capacitor instead of an accumulator is not possible, given the very low voltage available (3 volts), since the energy absorbed by a capacitor is a function of the square of the voltage.
