<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Newly pneumatic amontissemenb device of an organ" Device for progressive damping of the movement of an organ. articulated stressed "The invention relates to an apparatus for progressive damping of the movement of a stressed articulated member, this apparatus being intended to be applied in particular to a door with automatic opening and closing.
Currently known devices intended for automatically opening and closing doors include a separate system that is relatively complicated and, therefore, quite expensive, for damping the movement of the door towards its end of travel when it is opened and closed. .
The object of the present invention is to provide a
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
progressive damping device of a simple construction and flawless operation * For this purpose) the device according to the invention comprises a device provided with a movable element 000-, perant, via a lever system, with the aforementioned organ, so that at least towards the end of stroke of '; the requested member, the relative displacement of the movable element * 'in its device increases for the same rotation of the stressed member, the device being such that the speed of movement of the movable element is directly proportional to the force required to achieve this speed.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the aforementioned device consists of a so-called single-acting damper, said levers being arranged so, during the rotation of the member according to one or the other direction, to drive the movable element and to arm said damper during a first part of this rotation, the direction of operation of this element being reversed during the second part of the rotation of the member, this element acting; thus on the aforementioned member by progressively slowing down its movement during its end of travel.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the system of levers comprises a first lever integral with the aforementioned member, a second lever integral with the movable element of said device,. a third intermediate lever being articulated by its ends to said levers, these three levers moving substantially in the same plane, the biased member rotating about an axis perpendicular to the aforementioned plane, the relative length of the levers and the the arrangement of the device with respect to the biased member being such that for a rotation of the member at an angle of 90, the second lever is subjected, during the first part of the rotation, to
a rotation in one direction around the element

of the device, and, during the second part of the rotation, a rotation in the opposite direction corresponding to the progressive braking of the movement of the organ, due to the above-mentioned device.
According to a preferred embodiment of the object of the invention, the lever integral with the biased member is actuated at its free end by a piston rod, the latter moving under the action of a pressurized fluid in a cylinder articulated at its free end, so as to allow the end of the piston rod, mounted on said lever, to follow the path in an arc of a circle of the free end of said lever, during its rotation.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings given by way of non-limiting example of an embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention.
FIG. 1 is an elevational view with partial breakages of an apparatus according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view in section along the line II-II of Figure 1.
In the various figures, the same reference numerals denote similar elements.
The apparatus 1 shown in the figures is intended to be applied to automatic doors opening and closing by rotation about a vertical axis situated along a side post of these doors. This device 1 is arranged in a metal bottom 2 of rectangular shape which is intended to be placed in the ground substantially below the door, the latter not being shown in the drawings. Tray 2 is closed by a metal plate 3 placed at ground level.
The apparatus 1 according to the invention comprises a cylinder 4 in which slides a piston integral with a piston rod

5, this cylinder 4 being articulated at one end around a vertical bolt 6 mounted in the tank 2. The rod 5 is articulated. at the free end? a lever arm 8 fixed on a pivoting axever0 tical 9, this axis 9 being surmounted by a part 10 of rectangular section intended to be introduced into the part. lower of said door edge post.
The lever 8 presents a transverse piece 11, the free end 12 of which is articulated to a lever 13, the latter then being articulated at 14 to the lever arm 15 of a single-acting damper 16 of the generally known type. . Said lever arm 15 is integral with a vane element 17 rotatably mounted in the oil contained in this damper 16, the damper chamber being divided into two parts by a wall 18.
The vanes of the element 17 have a valve system 18 making it possible, during the movement of the lever arm 14 in the direction of the arrow 20, to arm the shock absorber and therefore to exert practically no damping. , 'while, during the displacement of this arm of the lever 15 in the direction of the arrow 21, of progressively braking the movement of the pivoting axis 9 and, consequently of the door integral with this axis, by expelling, by the system. valve 19, oil from one side of the vanes to the other side of these vanes.
In FIG. 3, an extreme position of the levers and of the shock absorber has been shown in a complete manner, saying that the axes of symmetry of these levers have been shown in broken lines in two other positions. characteristics.
In these different positions, the same parts are designated by the same reference numerals provided respectively with one and two accents.
Suppose that the position shown in full in the figures corresponds to the closed position of the door, the position of points 12 "and 14" corresponds to the position of where

verture of the door obtained by rotating axis 9 around an angle of 90. During this rotation, 'obtained by sending pressurized air into the cylinder 4 so as to cause the piston rod 5 to come out of said cylinder 4 thus actuating the lever 8, the lever arm 15 is subjected, during the first part of the rotation of the lever 8 and, consequently, of the axis 9, a displacement in the direction of the arrow 20, so that, as has been said above, there is no no braking.
Then, when the joints 12 and 14 are substantially in a straight line with the vertical axis 9 (see positions 12 'and 14'), the direction of movement of the lever 15 is reversed and undergoes an accelerated movement. in the direction of the arrow
21, so as to gradually dampen during the second part of the rotation of the axis 9, the movement of the latter until the end of travel of the door. The same phenomenon is obtained when the axis 9 is rotated in the opposite direction,
Depending on the relative length of the various levers and the arrangement of the damper with respect to the vertical axis 9, the part of the rotation, during which the damping takes place, will be more or less long.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and that many variants can be envisaged without departing from the scope of the present patent.
Thus, the damping device can be applied to a sliding door by providing a mechanism consisting of a gear boot and chain transmissions of the known type making it possible to transform the translational movement of this poetic door. in a rotational movement of an angle of approximately 90 in amplitude, this rotational movement being transmitted to the lever system axis; whereas the apparatus can be adapted so that it can be used in the suspension of vehicles; that the damping device
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
can consist of an electric motor with uniform speed of rotation cooperating with said axis by means of a system of levers substantially similar to that described above.
