Dispositif de formation de cocon..
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
bans l'industrie, pour la formation de cocon ! on connaît déjà dea dispositifs qui comprennent essentiellement une bobine pouvant se dévider librement ou un moyeu d'alimentalion quelconque fournissant le fil qui est tiré ;par une broche tournante sur laquelle il s'enroule en pass@nt préala- blement par un système de va-et-vient qui le mène @lternati- vement dans un sens puis dans l'autre le long d'un guide de formation du cocon occupant une position fixe par 'apport à lu broche et contre lequel le cocon est constamment maintenu en conta et;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
Dans ce cas, le plateau 11 entraîne donc également le cocon dans sa rotation, Dans les figures 2,3,4 et 5, les mêmes chiffres d@ référence que dune la figure 1 concernent les mêmes éléments. Le cocon est formé comme décrit en se référant à cette figure; cependant dans cette seconde réalisation, le poussoir 18a pousse contre le plateau 11 contre lequel appuie le cocon 18; ce poussoir 18a coulisse sur le support de guidage 23 sous l'action du système à contrepoids 23a;
l'élément de soutien du cocon 18 comprend des bras courbes 19 montés pour être articulés sur les pivots 19a solidaires du bâti fixe de la machine Ces bras, qui sont réunis par les tiges longitudinale. 20, portent des galets rotatifs 21 avec lesquels durant sa formation le cocon 18 vient en contact par sa périphérie quand les bras sont formée dune la position de la figure 4;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Cocoon forming device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in the industry, for the formation of cocoons! devices are already known which essentially comprise a reel which can be unwound freely or any feeding hub providing the wire which is drawn; by a rotating spindle on which it is wound up passing beforehand by a system of -and-comes which leads it alternately in one direction then in the other along a cocoon formation guide occupying a fixed position by 'contribution to the spindle and against which the cocoon is constantly kept in conta and ;
this training guide can be constituted, for example, by a fixed hollow cone, provided with a groove along a generatrix or by rollers whose axes inclined relative to the axis of the spindle are fixed or by a flat element, fixed, inclined with respect to the axis of the spindle or by a V-shaped element.
In known devices, the rotary spindle not only drives the wire, but centers and guides the cocoon that it supports at least partially during its formation on the spindle which occupies a fixed or axially sliding position. However, if the thread does not have elasticity or if it offers great adhesion, the tightening of the cocoon to the, * the pin becomes so strong that in the case where the pin is grout * socially healthy, there is no practically more means after finishing to remove the cocoon without damaging it, while in the case of an axially fixed spindle, the cocoon refuses to slide on the spindle as soon as it reaches a certain length, so that the cocooning becomes impossible.
The object of the present invention is to provide a cocooning device not having these drawbacks! * According to its essential characteristic, the cocooning device according to
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the invention has an external support element for the cocoon, maintaining the latter by its periphery, when it is formed by the rotation of a pin driving the thread.
The element for supporting the cocoon by its periphery this with free or controlled rotation and it consists of a part comprising a housing receiving the cocoon and such as a tube or a ring; the support element can also be formed by a set of rods or rollers rotating freely or under the effect of a command and determining between them a 'space to be occupied by the cocoon; the support element can also be mounted to move relative to the cocoon, or open in order to extract the latter more easily
According to another particularity, the cocoon in formation:
is maintained in contact with the training guide by a sliding plate, possibly provided with a roughness on which the cocoon rolls up at the start of its formation, which plate receives the action of a pusher or is slowed down in its movement in the support element
Other features may appear in the following description of the attached drawings in which are shown two embodiments of a device to be cocooned according to the invention, given by way of illustration only.
Figure 1 is a schematic view, partially in longitudinal axial section, of a first embodiment *
Figure 2 is a schematic view, partially in elevation and partially in section, of a second embodiment
Figure 3 is a side view partially in section and partially in elevation of Figure 2.
Figures 4 and 5 are sectional views along IV-IV of Figure 2 showing the support element respectively

closed and open.
In these figures * are shown only the elements necessary for understanding the invention; this is how, for example, we have deliberately omitted to show in particular the frame and the controls of the various elements
As shown in the figures, the thread 2 to be cocooned is wound on the spool 3 from which it unwinds freely; this wire passes through the eyelet 4 of the pivoting iras $ following a back and forth movement by the effect of the connecting rod 6 attached to the rotating wheel 7.
At the start of the formation, the wire is attached to the 'rotating spindle! Which is a pyramid of low height and which receives its movement by a control not shown; this height is approximately equal to the length of a path of the eyelet 4 along the cocoon-forming element consisting of a roller 9, the position of which is fixed with respect to the b'oche 8. and as it forms, the cocoon 18 grows and becomes lodged in the support element according to the invention *
In the embodiment shown in Figure 1, this element is a tube 10 which supports the cocoon by its periphery.
The cocoon which is driven by the small spindle 8 helps the tube 10 which is mounted in the ball bearings 10b and can thus rotate freely. In the tube 10, axially aligned with the spindle 8 is a sliding plate 11 which is subjected to the action of a pusher not shown, its key 11b slides in the groove 10a, so that it is constantly held against the cocoon which is itself maintained in contact with Here roller 9.
At the start of cocoon formation, the plate 11 is located near the pin 8 and the vest 9. In order to facilitate the driving of the support element 10 and to extract it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
alarm; the cocoon 18, the plate 11 is provided with an * axial roughness 12.
According to a variant, 1 * support element 10 or the sliding plate 11 can be subjected to a control basing it in rotation at the speed of the spindle 8; such a control shown schematically in mixed treatment in FIG. 1 can be constituted by a shaft 13 receiving its movement by the pinions 14 or 15 and transmitting it by the pinions 16 and 17 to the shaft 11a carrying the plate 11; the shaft 11a slides in the pinion 17 because it has a groove 11c in which the key 17a of said pinion 17 slides.
In this case, the plate 11 therefore also drives the cocoon in its rotation. In Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5, the same reference numbers as in Figure 1 relate to the same elements. The cocoon is formed as described with reference to this figure; however in this second embodiment, the pusher 18a pushes against the plate 11 against which the cocoon 18 rests; this pusher 18a slides on the guide support 23 under the action of the counterweight system 23a;
the cocoon support element 18 comprises curved arms 19 mounted to be articulated on the pivots 19a integral with the fixed frame of the machine These arms, which are joined by the longitudinal rods. 20, carry rotating rollers 21 with which during its formation the cocoon 18 comes into contact via its periphery when the arms are formed in the position of FIG. 4;
then the arms are joined by the connecting rod 22. When the cocoon is finished, the rod 22 is removed and the curved arms 19 are separated to bring them into the open position drawn in FIG. 5, so that it It is possible to grab the cocoon and remove it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
A support device according to the invention is advantageous because it makes it possible to make very long and very secure cocoons with low elasticity or high adhesion materials which are easily removed because they are only wound on the small drive spindle and on the roughness @ possibly provided on the sliding plate.
