Dans le dessin annexé donné uniquement à titre d'exemple: - la figure 1 est une vue d'ensemble d'un dispositif conforme à l'in- vention en coupe longitudinale; - la figure 2 est une vue en plan correspondant à la figure 1; - la figure 3 est une vue d'ensemble d'un tel dispositifen coupe longitudinale, dans son adaptation à la manutention horizontale; - la figure 4 est une vue d'ensemble de ce même dispositif en coupe longitudinale, dans son adaptation à la manutention verticale;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
- la figure 5 est une coupe longitudinale, à plus grande échelle, montrant l'articulation du cadre formant rampe sur le pont d'un navire, le cadre ayant été. montra extraits- pleins pour ce qui es-t de sa position de fermeture, et en lorsqu'il est incline et sert de rampe;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates essentially to a device forming a retractable ramp making it possible to connect two spaces located at different levels. This device can find its application in fixed installations (garages, silos, port warehouses, etc.) and mobile installations, in particular on ships, truck-wagons, etc.
It should be noted in this connection that horizontal handling vessels (of the "Trailer-ship" type) include, in addition to doors and ramps on their sides, interior ramps allowing goods to be routed to the various between-decks. ,. either by their own means, if they are self-propelled, or by any independent source of traction, such as tractors, forklifts, etc.
It is a recognized fact that horizontal handling, which avoids any break in load, is superior to vertical handling practiced on conventional cargo ships using quayside cranes or mast load horns. However, vertical handling may retain its interest, depending on the nature of the loading and the operating circumstances (poorly arranged docks, unloading on spandrels, etc.) and it would be interesting to be able to have vessels capable of carrying out either horizontal handling, i.e. vertical handling.
On such ships, the interior ramps, usually fixed, would then be an obstacle to the achievement of the aforementioned objective, because they would have to be eclipsed by the hatches made in the various decks to allow vertical handling of the goods. on the other hand, to recover, in the case of vertical handling, the volume lost by the ramps in the between decks to the detriment of the goods.)
The present invention relates to a device which can be quickly adapted either to horizontal handling or to vertical handling on board a ship of a fixed or mobile installation, etc.
and making it possible to recover, in the case of vertical handling, the volume lost in the tween decks or floors by the ship's own ramp or hangars or the like with horizontal handling.
The device according to the invention is of the type comprising an element forming a platform articulated at one of its ends along a substantially horizontal fixed axis and capable of occupying two extreme positions, in one of which said platform. form lies substantially in the plane of the deck of the ship or the like or of the upper floor of a fixed or mobile installation by closing the space located below while in the second position said platform is inclined and forms a ramp of 'access to said deck or floor.
This device is remarkable in particular in that the aforementioned element forming a platform is constituted by a frame supporting movable panels of the type used for closing hatches of ships or openable roofs, capable of opening and closing. the area of said frame.
Other characteristics of the invention will become apparent from the description which follows.
In the appended drawing, given solely by way of example: FIG. 1 is an overall view of a device according to the invention in longitudinal section; - Figure 2 is a plan view corresponding to Figure 1; - Figure 3 is an overall view of such a device in longitudinal section, in its adaptation to horizontal handling; - Figure 4 is an overall view of the same device in longitudinal section, in its adaptation to vertical handling;
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
- Figure 5 is a longitudinal section, on a larger scale, showing the articulation of the frame forming a ramp on the deck of a ship, the frame having been. showed full extracts for what is its closed position, and when it is tilted and serves as a ramp;
- Figure 6 is a similar longitudinal section showing the opposite end of the aforementioned frame; - figure 7 - is a cross section on a larger scale along the line VII-VII of figure 50
According to the exemplary embodiment shown, the device according to the invention consists essentially of a frame 1 bearing on its step 2 removable panels 3 which cover the interior space 4 of this frame 1. The latter is articulated by axis 5 at the edge of the hatch 6 (in the case of a ship) made in the bridge 7 between the tween decks 8 and 9 for example. Frame 1 is dated with a number of clamps 10 of any type intended to hold it to deck 7.
The frame 1 can occupy two positions: - In the first position, as shown in Figure 1, the frame is plate under the bridge 7 by the clamping devices 10.
- In the second position, as shown in Figure 3, the frame, released from the bridge 7 is oblique and rests on the bridge 11 by its end 12 opposite to the axis 5.; and specially designed for this purpose.
In his. adaptation to horizontal handling, the frame 1 of the device according to the invention which may be called a "ramp-panel" occupies the second above-mentioned position shown in FIG. 3, the panels 3 being in place on the frame 1 so as to allow the rolling of goods 13 between the between decks 8 and 9, the panels 3 are sufficiently dimensioned to support the rolled loads. They can be of absolutely any type.
In its adaptation to vertical handling, as represented in FIG. 4, the frame 1 of the "ramp-panel" occupies the first aforementioned position and the panels 3 have been removed, thus revealing the interior space 4 of the frame 1 by which can be handled during the loading or unloading of the tween decks 9 in line with the interior space 4, thus recovering the volume that would be lost in the said tween deck or floor with a ramp specific to the ship or handling building horizonto When the filling of the tween-decks 9 is finished, the panels 3 are put back in place on the frame 1 and the "ramp-panel" retained at the deck 7 by the clamping devices 10 can then be loaded with goods in the same way as bridge 7,
thus achieving the complete filling of the tween-deck 80 The clamping devices 10 and the panels 3 are sufficiently dimensioned to be able to withstand the loads admitted in the tween-deck 8.
In what follows, we will now describe the application of the general principle of the device according to the invention to the special case of a modern ship on which it is essential that the loading and unloading maneuvers be performed very quickly.
] In the example of Figures 5, 6 and 7, it was assumed that the frame 1 was formed by poles or preferably tubular elements As shown in the figures ,, two transverse beams 28, 29 and two longitudinal beams 30 are used. and 31. On the longitudinal beams 30 and 31 there are provided, at their upper part, running or guideways 32 intended to allow closure panels -de wedge 33 to roll and come either close the frame. , either open to you
It is obvious that the panels used can be of any type. One can, for example, choose articulated folding panels,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
roll-up such as those known as Mac Gregor, Mège etc ...
In the example described, panels of the Mac Gregor type have been chosen, that is to say panels formed by sections which are independent from one another and which are rolling, operated separately or simultaneously by mechanical, electrical or hydraulic means, or panels. type pontoons.
One of the sides or one of the ends of the frame 1 is articulated on the bridge 7 by means of the axis 5 mentioned above. An element forming an awning 34 is provided on the edge of the opening 4 made in the deck and automatically covers the entire perimeter of the frame 1 when the latter closes said opening. On this awning, a sealing gasket is provided. 359 for example of elastically deformable material, intended to cooperate with a projection 36 provided on the upper part of the beams forming the frame 1. In order to limit the compression of the material forming the lining, an additional contact is provided between the awning and the frame with a rigid element 37.
The maintenance of the frame in place when it has to close the opening 4 and the compression of the seals are ensured by means of screwdrivers 38 or similar means which are easy to imagine and which are well known in the art. These bolts have for example cleats 38 'cooperating with heels 38 "provided on the frame 1. The free end of the frame 1 (corresponding to the beam 29) is held in place by bolts 39 which may be of the same type as the bolts 380
It is possible, if desired, to add an automatic locking means to the frame.
In FIG. 6, it has been shown schematically in phantom lines. According to this example, the frame ends with a circle 40 cooperating not only with the cleat 41 belonging to the pull-edge 39, but also with a spout 42 with ramp 43 recalled by a means 44 elastic or integral with a piston actuated by a pressurized fluid. The heel or spout 42 disappears when the frame 1 is raised and then comes to engage under said round 400
In the example chosen, the panels 33 are of the watertight flat deck type, that is to say, in the closed position, they form with the deck and the frame a smooth surface without appreciable roughness. Actual panels of this nature are well known in the art. Their application to the specific case of the device confbrme to the invention is carried out as follows.
On the beams forming the frame 1, a rim 45 formed by a projecting element, for example, is provided over their entire periphery. The height of this element should be chosen in such a way that, when the panels are applied to their seals, they do not protrude outside said protruding element. The panels comprise at their lower part sealing gaskets 46, the gasket of which is constituted by an elastically deformable material coming into contact with projecting elements 47 provided on the beams of the cadreo The panels can move thanks to rollers 48 comprising for example , eccentric hubs (see figure 7).
So-called flat deck bolts 49 are provided on the sides of the panels and have heels 50 'cooperating with tabs 50 provided on the edges of the projecting elements 45 of the beam.
We can see the simplicity of the assembly which has been shown in the drawings. In particular, it can be seen that all the gaskets are of a type well tested in practice, that they are protected from sea packets, and from any deterioration due to their position at the lower part as panels that of the awning 34 and that in addition, the frame 1 forming a ramp has only small projections coming into contact with said linings. These projections can moreover be parallel and vertical, which makes the manufacture of the frame extremely practical and simple.
In FIG. 6, the free end of the frame has been shown in a thinned form, but it is quite obvious that this part can have any other shape appropriate to the circumstances.
