<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to a feed device for woodworking machines with a plurality of driven feed rollers arranged one behind the other in the direction of travel. It has already been proposed, in such advancement devices, to arrange advancing rollers so that they can be rotated about an axis perpendicular to the plane passing through the axes of all the rollers. advancement, and this in such a way that the advancement rollers can be pivoted one by one by, group of several, or all simultaneously.
In such an advancing device, at the lower end of each vertical axis associated with an advancing roller and arranged in a non-symmetrical manner, there is a bearing sleeve in which the is mounted in such a manner. to be able to rotate a hub fixed to the advancement roller, this hub being coupled to the control.
This conformation has the consequence that between the vertical axes and a parallel to these vertical axes passing through the. top of the rollers, there is a gap which causes the advancement roller, when its axis is perpendicular to the guide rule usually provided on woodworking machines, moves away from the guide rule during tilting subsequent around the vertical axis. This drawback must be eliminated by the invention.
For this purpose, the arrangement according to the invention is combined such that the vertical axes are each disposed above the top of a roller and exactly or about in the middle of the width of the roller.
@
In particular, the arrangement may be such that in each axis is mounted a shaft capable of pivoting around the latter, this shaft carrying at its lower end a

U-shaped part which comprises an elbow and a bearing fixed to one of the branches thereof and intended for the advancement roller and in that the U-shaped part is shaped and arranged in such a way that its branches are directed transversely to the tree and that its opening is directed outwards.
Advantageously, there is arranged on the elbow, in a fixed manner, an internal bearing in the bore of which is mounted, sliding or rolling, a drive turret connected to articulation with a control member ,, this orillond'entrainement. being permanently connected to an outer bearing on which the advancement roller is mounted, said outer bearing being mounted outside the inner sliding or rolling bearing.
The conformation according to the invention can also be used in an advancement device in which on the axes which are perpendicular to the plane passing through the axes of all the advancement rollers, are mounted shafts which are located under the shaft. effect of a spring pressing down.
In the drawing, the object of the invention has been shown by way of example.
We see, in: - Figure 1, a top plan view of the advancement device with partial section; - Figure 2, a section along the line II-II of Figure 1; FIG. 3, a partial elevational view of the advancement device in a frontal direction with respect to one. advancement roller.
In the example shown, a guide rule 2, advantageously adjustable transversely to the direction of travel, against these two elements, is placed against these two elements on the plate forming a table 1 of a woodworking machine. work 3 that needs to be advanced. The advancement device 4 known per se is suspended in a known manner

in itself, adjustable, above the table 1. It comprises a drive motor for the rollers 5 and a transmission which acts "on the toothed drive wheels 8 of the advancing rollers 5, which wheels 8 are mounted in the housing 6 of the advancing device at 7. The toothed wheels 8 are each mounted on a shaft 9 which is articulated by an intermediate part 10 to a drive journal 11.
This is mounted sliding or rolling in an internal bearing 12 which is fixed to an elbow 13 by means of screws 17, so that with the elbow it forms a U-shaped part. The drive journal 11 is connected to the outside of the inner bearing 12 so as to rotate with it, for example by a key 16) with an outer bearing 15 mounted on the inner bearing 12 on needles or rollers 14 .
The outer bearing 15 is permanently connected by screws 16 to the advancement roller 5.
The U-shaped part formed by the elbow 13 and the internal bearing 12 is permanently arranged on a shaft 19 mounted vertically in the casing 6 of the advancement device and with a conformation such as the axis of the shaft. 19 is located above the top of the roller 5 and in the middle of the width of the roller (Figures 2 and 3).
The vertical shaft 19 is mounted in an axially displaceable manner to allow the application of the advancing roller 5. To produce the axial displacement of the shaft 19 there is mounted on it a lever 28 which also serves to rotate the shaft 19 and in addition there is, mounted on it in an axially displaceable manner, a cylindrical rack 21.
Between this rack and the lever 28 is threaded on the shaft 19 a pressure spring 22 so that in the axial displacement of the rack 21 obtained by a toothed wheel 24 mounted in the housing 6 of the advancing device and operable by a lever 23, the shaft 19 is displaced axially while the rack 21, by the inter

medial of the pressure spring 22, press on the lever 28 which is permanently mounted on the shaft 19.
The rotation of the shafts 19 around their axes can be obtained by the fact that the lever 28 of each shaft 19 is in the form of a bent lever, the branches of which 28 ', 28 "each have a fork 29', respectively 29". Advantageously, a displacement device has been provided for the joint displacement of several or all of the journals
33 and an individual displacement device for the journals and provision has been made to be able to couple these displacement devices to the journals 33 ', so that the advancement rollers 5 can be pivoted either individually or several times. at a time ,
either all together around the axes of their shafts 19. On a rail 30 movable parallel to the direction of alignment of the vertical shafts 19 and serving as a common means of movement, is mounted at 32, for each of the shafts 19, an angled lever 31 which has at its two ends pivots or journals 55 ', respectively 33 ", which can enter alternately into the forks 29', respectively 29". These bent levers are under the action of a torsion spring 34 in a direction such that the pivot 33 "is pushed into the fork 29" and the pivot 33 'is pushed out of the fork 29'. In this case, the advancement rollers 5 are immobilized in their normal position.
Also provided are individual displacement devices which are formed by a plate 35 which is arranged at the front face of a bolt or pin 37 mounted axially displacably in the housing 36 of the advancing device. These pins are provided with a handle, for example a rotational end 38 and a baion locking, au'en net 39,40 which is arranged in such a way r worm position =
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
rusting the plate 35 pushes the pivot 33 'back into the fork 29'.
The rail 30, which is advantageously shaped with a U-shaped profile and which has in one of its branches 30 'elongated slots 41 for the passage of the pins 37, present at each of its ends, arranged in the longitudinal direction of the pivots 42, 43, one of which, 42, is mounted in a displaceable manner in the casing 36 and the other, 43, of which is mounted so as to be able to rotate in the casing 36 but without allowing axial displacement, carries a thread and is provided with a nut 45 and a rotation button 44, carrying a nut 45.
The mode of action of this device for pivoting the shafts 19 is as follows:, If, as shown in FIG. 1, the pivots 33 'of the rollers 5' are locked to the fork lever 28 but that on the other hand the pivot 33 'of the roller 5 is not locked, so that the pivot 33 "associated with the roller 5 is located in the fork 29", in a longitudinal movement of the rail 30, the fork levers 28 associated with the rollers 5' and therefore also their axes 19 are pivoted, while the fourohe lever 28 associated with the roller 5 is locked so that the roller 5 remains in its normal position.
