react 2,5-dihalo-3J6-biS'-acylamino-p-ben3oqulnones on ethYlene-1mines or by acting on 2,5-bls-ethylene-imino-3,6-dihalo-p-benzoquinones of the compounds N-metallic carboxylic acid amides, especially alkali metal compounds such as sodium. Among the dihalogenated compounds, the dichlorinated and dlbrominated compounds are particularly suitable.

was indicated last; it is also possible to use agents of, for example, tertiary bases. The reaction can be carried out at room temperature or while hot.
The starting materials are known or can be prepared in a manner known per se.
The quinones obtained in accordance with the process can be used as bactericidal as well as as medicaments in cancerous diseases or diseases caused by amoebae, for example in the form of pharmaceutical preparations. These contain the compounds indicated in admixture with a pharmaceutical carrier material, organic or inorganic, suitable for enteral, parenteral or local application.
For this carrier material, substances which do not react with the new compounds are envisaged, for example gelatin, lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, talc, vegetable oils, benzyl alcohols, gums. ployalene glycols, petroleum jelly, cholesterin or other known excipients. These pharmaceutical preparations can be presented, for example, in the form of tablets, dragees, powders, ointments, creams or suppositories. , or in liquid form in the form of solutions, suspensions or emulsions.
Where appropriate, they are sterilized and / or contain 'auxiliary substances such as agents

conservation, stabilization, wetting or emulsifying agents. They may also contain still other therapeutically valuable substances.
The present invention also relates, as new industrial products, to products conforming to those defined above.
The invention is described in more detail in the non-limiting examples which follow. In these examples, temperatures are shown in degrees centigrade.
