<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
(Fig.4).

The present invention relates to a crane with mobile arm in the vertical and horizontal direction, characterized in that its operation and its adjustment are ensured entirely by hydraulic means.
This crane is particularly intended for use on vehicles of all kinds with wheels or crawlers, floating, etc., but it can, of course, be used at a fixed position. It comprises at least four different movements, each of these movements being provided by a hydraulic motor, preferably of the eleodynamic type supplied with fluid by a motor-pump unit, connected to the eleodynamic device by nozzles controlled by manually controlled distribution members. or, at least partially, automatic.
The oleodynamic motors employed are of two types, according to the organs which they must control, and the movements which these organs must execute.
The traction of the load lifting cable with the aid of a jack, and the rotation of the flood on its base are ensured by relative oleodynamic motors.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The lifting and lowering of the arm as well as its lengthening and shortening are controlled by linear displacement hydraulic cylinders.
The object of the invention is represented by the accompanying drawings which show, by way of non-limiting example, one embodiment.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic vertical section of a crane according to the invention, the two sections of which cut away from the vertical A B are shown one above the other.
Fig. 2 is a section on a larger scale, taken along the line II-II of fig.l.
Figs. 3, 4, 5, are details in different positions of the operation of the blocking valve.
-1- designates a sopport platform which, in general, consists of a part of a vehicle such as an automobile, a trailer, a boat, etc. On this support can rotate the crane foot -2-, for example by means of a large ball bearing, comprising an outer ring -3-, integral with the support and an inner ring -4- integral with the foot- 2-.
The ring -4- is internally toothed and its teeth meshed with a pinion -5-, wedged on the shaft -6- of a preferably oleodynamic motor -7-, mounted on the support -1-.
On the foot-2- stands the upright -8- on the upper end of which is articulated in the manner of an ai was an arrow or tubular horizzontal arm -9- of square or rectangular cross section and that can oscillate in a vertical plane under the action of a telescopic device -10- articulated, one up, to the arm -9- and down to the foot -2- which it follows the possible rotations, with all the set of the upright -8- and arm -9'-.
The telescopic arm -9- comprises a sliding element -11- guided by 'two support rollers -12- and -13-, its lengthening movement is controlled by a hydraulic system -14- which is enclosed therein and is supported, due to "its great length, by a guide collar -14'-.
The inner end of the element-11- is still .provided with a pad -11'-, where appropriate of the roller or ball type,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
whose object is to support this element -11-, to prevent it from moving away from the guide roller -13- in those cases where the load at the end of the arm is very small and the element -11- largely retracted, the weight of the retracted part of the element outweighs the weight of the protruding exterior part.
At the free end of the element -11- is mounted a pulley -15-, on which passes the cable -16- which runs inside the element.
-11- and the arm -9- coming out through a cover-17- which closes the end of the arm, and will wind up on a winch-18- mounted on this same cover, with the motor, preferably oleodynamic, which actuates it.
The winch-motor assembly is arranged so as to be able to move along the axis of the winch, and this movement is controlled by a screw-20- whose pitch corresponds to that of the winding of the cable -16- and whose rotation is integral with that of the winch -18- under the effect of a suitable transmission, comprising, for example, a pair of pignens-21-22- connected by a chain-23-.
It follows that when the winch is running, and the cable is wound up on it, the winch-motor assembly moves along its axis so that the obliquity of the cable is eliminated or at least very reduced .
To ensure that the winch is stopped at the end of the unwinding of the cable, a blocking valve is provided, the body of which-25- is mounted on the support-24- which carries the winch and its motor, this valve controlling the nozzle d exhaust of this engine.
This valve comprises a slide -28- and a guide element -29- sliding in a cylinder camber formed in the body -25et joined by a rod -30- which projects out of the body -25-.
The two end parts of the chamber formed in the body -25- are in communication with each other by a duct -30 'arranged in the rod -30 and also opening by a slot-31- radially passing through the rod -30-, in the portion of the chamber-25- located between the drawer-28- and the guide element -29-.
The pressure is therefore established uniformly on the two opposite surfaces of the drawer, but the working surface of the drawer is less on the side where the rod-30- exits the body -25-.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
s that it is reduced by all the area of the section ,. right of that same rod. Consequently, the drawer is obliged to behave in the manner of a differential piston, in that the pressure tends to move the drawer towards the side carrying the rod -30-.
This tiioir valve is actuated by a pusher-26- subjected to the action of a spring-19- and secured to a fixed point of the machine, such that the pusher acts on the valve at the end of the movement. transverse of the winch, i.e. when the cable is almost completely unwound. For this position, the spool -28 which forms the active member of the valve will block the exhaust port -27- of the engine, so that the latter stops. (Fig. 4).
By reversing the position of the control spool not shown, the exhaust port becomes intake port and spool -28- and subjected to the high pressure of the intake, much greater than the action of the spring-19- of the pusher -26- so that the slide itself moves allowing passage to the liquid, which supplies the oleodynamic motor in the opposite direction to the previous direction.
This stop valve system can, of course, be placed at each end of the travel stroke of the winch.
The motor-pump assembly providing the fluid (generally oil of a suitable quality) is of a type known per se and does not form part of the invention.
For the pressurized fluid to the motors mounted on the crane (and therefore rotating with the latter), a rotating hydraulic joint is provided.
There are however cases in which it is desirable to fix this motor on the foot so that it rotates with the latter, in which case it will also be supplied by the intermediary of the rotating joint. ,
In other cases, it may be advantageous: to also place the control cabin with the operator on the rotating base of the crane; the rotating joint will be al @ te- two-way saulement, for it will have to provide for the supply of the fluid under pressure and for the return thereof to the reservoir.
Finally, it is possible to place all the hydraulic advancement with the operator on the rotating foot; in this case it will be possible to do without the rotating joint.
