<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Ozonizer for living and working premises.
The invention relates to an ozonator for improving the atmosphere in living and working rooms.
Such ozonizers are already known, of relatively low capacity, called upon to operate on the lighting sector. They generally consist of a high voltage transformer that can be connected to this mains and of a glow discharge system with electrodes. Small-capacity ozonizers generally give satisfactory results, but the construction, especially of the discharge system, is usually tedious and expensive, so that these devices do not lend themselves well to manufacture in. mass and are therefore relatively expensive.
The invention relates to µ an ozonator characterized in that the glow discharge system consists of a replaceable mounting unit suitable for mass production. This unit includes a U-mount for
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the glass tube formed of an insulating material foldable in the manner of cardboard, a frame against the wings of which the end faces of the tube rest, the lateral displacements of the latter being prevented by several tabs pushed back from the wings of the tube. the frame, while the core of the frame ', parallel to the tube, has a window.
This unit can be enclosed in an appropriate compartment of the ozonator cabinet, made of insulating material, the cabinet walls of which ensure the required stability of the mount.
The invention will be explained more broadly below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the mounting unit forming the glow discharge system according to the invention.
Figure -2 shows, on a smaller scale, an execution of the cabinet seen from the back; with the base plate removed. , @
Figure 3 is an example of the outer electrode.
Figure 4 shows a retainer for the outer electrode of Figure 3. The replaceable unit suitable for mass manufacture which includes the discharge system is shown, by way of example in FIG. 1. The discharge takes place essentially at the level of a cylindrical electrode 1, for example made of perforated sheet metal, which is slid, as an external electrode, on a glass tube 2 whose wall interior carries a metal lining 3 forming an interior electrode. The electrodes 1 and 3 do not extend to the upper and lower ends of the tube 2 and are each provided with an outlet 4,5 formed of a strip of -Letal.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 3 shows a particularly favorable example of the outer electrode 1. This consists of a metal insert 20 rolled up in a cylinder, for example an aluminum foil provided with perforations 21. It is rolled around. from its longitudinal axis, the gasket 20 is given a certain pre-tension, so that the latter adheres to the glass tube 2 of the discharge system after having been slipped on this tube. Instead of sheet metal, a metallic fabric rolled up in a cylinder can be used as a lining. To guarantee the position of the external electrode, it is possible to provide a resilient clamp which surrounds the metal lining on the outside and formed, according to FIG. 4 for example, by a ring 22 of spring wire, the ends of which 23 and 24 are angled radially outward.
By bringing the ends 23 and 24 together, the elastic ring 22 can be slightly widened and slipped on. The wound packing 20, arranged on the tube 2; once its ends are released, 'la. ring tightens the packing and presses against the tube 2.
Instead of one or more elastic rings 22, one can obviously provide any other suitable elastic retaining system. If necessary, one of the ends 23, 24 can serve to connect the outlet for the outer electrode, ie the resilient retainer can simultaneously serve to ensure contact with the tale.
If a sufficiently rigid and resilient material at the same time is used to form the coiled metal liner 20, the liner adheres to the glass cylinder with such force that a separate retainer can be dispensed with. . A steel sheet or a steel wire mesh, for example, are suitable materials.
The glass tube 2 is provided with a U-shaped frame comprising wings 6a, 6b and 7a, 7b and a core 8. Here, the frame is established for example in a rectangular strip.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
from a pliable insulating material to. the manner of a carton, the small sides of the strip being folded back on themselves, so as to form the wings 6a, b and 7a, b. It is not necessary to use a high quality insulating material for this purpose, since the outer electrode does not come into contact with the frame at all, while the inner electrode 3 does not. touch the latter only through output 5.
If necessary, contact can also be avoided at this location, by properly folding the outlet 5 around the lower edge of the tube 2 and by making a sufficient cut in the lower inner wing 7a ,. Several triangular tabs 9, pushed back from the inner half-wings 6a and 7a, are arranged in such a way as to prevent the upper and lower ends of the tube 2, which rest respectively against the inner half-wings 6a , 7a, to move sideways.
The wall 8 of the frame, oriented parallel to the axis, longitudinal of the tube, is provided with a cutout 10 forming a window and covered with a large fabric or mesh which, while allowing the passage of gases which occur. develop at the level of the outer electrode 1 during the discharge, prevents any contact with this electrode through the window 10, from the dorsal face of the frame.
The frame 6, 7, 8 obviously does not have sufficient rigidity to retain, in a cantilever manner, the shape shown in FIG. 1. However, the whole of the unit according to FIG. 1 is intended to be inserted into a compartment 11 of the box 12, FIG. 2. This box contains all the elements of the ozonator and is established in a good electrical insulator, for example a suitable synthetic material.
The part, allocated to compartment 11, of the front plate of the cabinet 12, is provided with cutouts 13, so that after the installation of the unit according to figure 1 in the compartment 11, the gases developed in progress Operating
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
at the level of the external electrode 1 can escape from the box 12 through the window 10 and the cutouts 13.
The cabinet 12 contains a second compartment, 14, separated from the compartment 11 by the closion 15, so that the gases produced in the compartment 11 are prevented from entering the compartment''14 * The partition 15 has two guide 16 for the deflected parts 4a and 5a of the outlets 4 and 5 of the electrodes which penetrate into the compartment 14 to be fixed there removably to suitable connection terminals 17.
In the compartment 14 are arranged: a high voltage transformer 18 suitable for connection to the lighting mains; a protective resistor (not shown) interposed in the connections going to terminals 17; an adjustable series resistor 19, in the primary of transformer 18; and, a fuse circuit breaker (not shown). The series resistor 19 and the transformer 18 are calculated so that the secondary voltage is adjustable between a minimum value, which provides practically no glow discharge to the outer electrode 1, and a maximum value, to which corresponds l. appearance of a powerful luminescent discharge at the level of this electrode.
