INTERRUPTEUR AUTOMATIQUE DE HAUTE TENSION COMMANDE A DISTANCE, POUR
ELECTROFILTRESo

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

REMOTE CONTROLLED HIGH VOLTAGE AUTOMATIC SWITCH, FOR
ELECTROFILTERSo
The present invention relates to a remote-controlled automatic high-voltage switch for electrostatic precipitators. The object of the invention is, in particular, to connect to the high-voltage circuit several electrostatic precipitators or electric fields combined in one but capable of being controlled by distance independently of each other., and in the event of a short-circuit in one of the fields or electrostatic precipitators, only the disturbed part can be interrupted and switched on again. \! without stopping the work of the other parts of the installation. The remote-controlled high-voltage switch according to the invention,
also offers the particular advantage that no contact is located near the high voltage and that any repairs must only be made in the low voltage part, therefore without presenting any danger.
According to the invention, the remote-controlled automatic switch consists of an interrupting bar mounted in such a way on a rotary insulator, that in the earthed position it is retained by a spring, and that it is establishes the high voltage circuit of the filter using an electromagnet which is controlled by an overload relay in the high voltage circuits, and an electromagnet in the low voltage one. invention, in particular automatic control.,
will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

realization of an automatic remote control, with acoustic and optical signaling, and fig 4 shows several switches, according to the invention, for several electric fields or electrostatic precipitators, connected to the same high voltage source.
To fully understand the aim of the invention, reference will firstly be made to the diagram in FIG. 4, where E designates an electro-filter with four fields 1, 2, 3; 4. The voltage of the rectifier G 1 is determined by the resistors 9, 10, 11, 12 according to the momentary needs of the various fields or electrostatic precipitators.
The high voltage switches designated by 5,6,7, 8 must be mounted directly near the electric fields or the electrostatic precipitator (s), so that only one high voltage conductor is sufficient to connect the rectifier to the different electrostatic precipitators or champso The high voltage switches 5,6, 7, 8 must be able to be controlled from a remote station, while ensuring a fully automatic control of the work of the electrofilters.
The high voltage switch shown in fig 1 is made of a single high quality steel wire 1 forming a bar of about 3 to 6 mm, fixed in a pivoting manner in the head of an insulator. 2, the base of which is mounted in a ball bearing, this bar 1 thus being able to be easily moved towards the earthing head 6 and the high voltage head 5. For this purpose, a spring 4 fixed to one side of the the rotary insulator 2 permanently maintains the bar 1 on the earthing head 6, while on the other side of this insulator is provided an electromagnet 3 which, to establish the circuit, attracts the bar 1 on the high voltage head 5, which has the consequence of starting the electrostatic precipitator supposed to be mounted at 7.
So when the interlock 8 lowers, the magnet 3 attracts and moves the bar 1 from the earthing head 6 to the high voltage head 5.
Thanks to the overload relay 9 in the high voltage circuit, shown in figo 2, and to the auxiliary relay 13 with pushbuttons 11, 12, an automatic high voltage switch with remote control is produced, operating as described below. . When button 11 is pressed, the current goes from phase U to electromagnet 3 and to auxiliary relay 13 and returns to phase Vo Therefore, magnet 3 attracts and moves bar 1 to 5 , establishing the high voltage circuit from 5 to 7 to the electrofilter.
So that, when the push-button 11 is released, the current remains on, the auxiliary relay 13 establishes the U-12-14-10 circuit to 3 and 13 to V, by operating the 15o contact. Even if the voltage of the electrostatic precipitator became too strong the overload relay 9 would cause the breaking of the contact 10 in the aforementioned low voltage circuit, which would have the effect of disconnecting the magnet 3 and the relay 13. However, this cuts off the circuit in 14 and establishes it between the two contacts 15, which triggers a signal in this circuit and only interrupts it after the re-establishment of the circuit obtained by the breaking of contact 15.
Thanks to the thermal relay Th and the additional time relay Z, shown in figo 3, a fully automatic operation of the electrostatic precipitators is obtained so that during frequent discharges in the electrostatic precipitator, the circuit can fail. establish automatically and only be completely interrupted in the event of prolonged short circuits, while a signal is triggered
According to the invention, the installation, shown in Fig. 3, works as follows:
When pushbutton 11 is pressed, after having actuated trigger 8, the current flows from U through thermal rest contact 16, contacts 12, 11 to magnet 13 and returns to phase V , given that the automatic retaining contact 14 is connected by the operation of 11 and the rest even when the latter is released.
At the same time as the winding of the magnet 13 that of the magnet 17 of the Z time relay is also energized,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
however, the current circuit returns to phase V via * - contact 10 and overload relay 9. The establishment of this current circuit closes contact 18 which thereby establishes the circuit with magnet 3 , which has the effect of making the bar 1 return to the right on the high voltage head 5, thus putting the electrostatic precipitator (s) on.
In the event of an overload of the high voltage relay 9, the rest contact 10 of the latter opens, the winding of the time relay 17 is without current, the contact 18 is open, which deprives the winding of the current. 'magnet 3,
so that the spring 4 automatically places the bar 1 in the earthing position 6 to which the electrostatic precipitators or fields are consequently also connected according to fig. 4. However, this earthing deprives the relay of current. overload 9, so that the contact 10 of the low voltage circuit closes and that the Z time relay and the magnet 3 are again in circuit, the strip 1 re-established:
- then maintaining the link with the high voltage heads
If a short-circuit occurs in the filter or in a field, the various operations described above follow one another quickly o To then completely stop the installation, the thermal relay Th comes into operation via resistor W and the contact 19, due to the fact that everything heats up and that thus contact 16 is cut off, the latter, by interrupting phase U, deprives all the windings of current o Contact 15 of auxiliary relay H is closed and signal 20 enters in action until the interlock 8 interrupts it.
