TITRAGE SANS MASTICo
En vue d'atteindre ces différents résultats, le dispositif de l'in- vention est essentiellement caractérisé par l'application, comme supports des plaques de verre, de profilés dont l'âme est supérieurement prolongée par une tête de section généralement polygonale et de préférence rectangu- laire;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
en une seule pièce et conditionnés d'un telle manière qu'ils enveloppent . complètement ou à peu près complètement ladite tête desdits profilés spé- ciaux, cet enveloppement étànt prolongé de part et d'autre par des ailes sus- ceptibles d'appliquer une pression élastique sur la partie correspondante des plaques de verre sous-jacentes, ces mêmes couvre-joints présentant, en- tre leur partie supérieure enveloppant la tête des profilés spéciaux et les- dites ailes latérales, une partie droite venant s'appliquer contre les par- ties correspondantes de l'Orne des profilés spéciaux;
Evidemment, on pourra présenter ces caractéristiques nouvelles sous des formes matérielles différentes notamment en les adaptant aux différentes applications dans lesquelles interviennent les vitrages sans mastic, A titre d'exemple, des exécutions sont représentées aux dessins annexés, dans lesquels : la figure 1 est une vue perspective partielle d'un dispositif conforme à l'invention; la figure 2 est une coupe verticale partielle par le dispositif de la figure 1, en l'occurrence par la ligne II-II de la figure 3; la figure 3 est une vue latérale partielle du dispositif de la figure 1; la figure 4 représente la section droite du couvre-joint; la figure 5 représente, en vue latérale partielle, une variante d'exécution du dispositif de la figure 1;
Dans l'exemple d'exécution des figures 1 à 4, le vitrage sans mastic, objet de l'invention, est constitué par la combinaison des éléments suivants : dès profilés spéciaux 1 présentant au moins une âme 2; de part et d'autre de ladite âme une potence ou pièce d'appui, respectivement 3-4, sur lesquelles reposent, par l'intermédiaire de joints élastiques, respec- tivement 5-6, les plaques de verre, respectivement 7-8. L'Orne 2 est supé- rieurement bordée par une tête 9 de section rectangulaire sensiblement plus large que l'épaisseur de l'âme 2, Le couvre-joint est réalisé par une bande relativement élastique profilée de manière à présenter, en section droite, un élément tubulaire 10 épousant correctement les limites exté- rieures de la tête 9;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

TITRATION WITHOUT MASTICo
The invention relates to mastic-free glazing of the type comprising special profiles, glass plates resting on brackets which are integral with said special profiles and elastic bands, one longitudinal edge of which is made integral with said special profiles and the other of which. longitudinal edge presses with a certain elastic pressure on the adjacent glass plate.
A relatively large number of such devices have already been proposed, which differ essentially either by the nature of the special profiles or by the profile and the arrangement of the elastic bands, or even by the means of securing between the juxtaposed elements. @ In general, glazing without mastic has two major drawbacks. The first comes from the relative complexity of the mechanical combination produced and the difficulties in manufacturing the special profiles recommended. The second results from a lack of stability of the glazing due to its precarious resistance to the effects of tearing.
In order to avoid these drawbacks, even more complex means have been recommended, the most harmful consequence of which is a significant increase in the price at the same time as a slowing down in the installation of such windows.
According to the invention, a mastic-free glazing of the same type is produced, but in which the elements are packaged in a much more rational manner with a view to using only relatively very simple elements of rapid and economical industrial manufacture. , capable of being set up very quickly and certainly offering ample resistance to all normal and even exceptional stresses in work of this nature.
With a view to achieving these various results, the device of the invention is essentially characterized by the application, as supports for the glass plates, of profiles the core of which is superiorly extended by a head of generally polygonal section and of sections. preferably rectangular;
these special profiles are combined with joint covers executed
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in one piece and packaged in such a way that they wrap. completely or almost completely said head of said special profiles, this envelopment being extended on either side by wings capable of applying an elastic pressure on the corresponding part of the underlying glass plates, these same joint covers having, between their upper part enveloping the head of the special profiles and said side wings, a straight part coming to rest against the corresponding parts of the Orne of the special profiles;
said joint cover is itself combined with support and local fixing elements, the characteristic of which is to urge said joint cover at the level of its parts in direct contact with the core of said special profiles.
From this characteristic arrangement, it follows that not only are relatively very simple elements of current industrial manufacture used but that the joint covers are systematically preserved against any tearing effect being positively stressed in such a manner. that their attachment by the head of the special profiles is practically unalterable.
The installation of such a device is extremely expeditious because the joint covers by their elasticity can be almost instantaneously secured to the special profiles and the support elements arranged at distance to distance along said joint covers are also. rapid placement that does not require specialized labor.
Obviously, these new characteristics can be presented in different material forms, in particular by adapting them to the different applications in which glazing without mastic occurs. For example, executions are shown in the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a partial perspective view of a device according to the invention; FIG. 2 is a partial vertical section through the device of FIG. 1, in this case through line II-II of FIG. 3; Figure 3 is a partial side view of the device of Figure 1; Figure 4 shows the cross section of the joint cover; FIG. 5 represents, in partial side view, an alternative embodiment of the device of FIG. 1;
FIG. 6 is a section taken on the line VI-VI of FIG. 5; FIG. 7 shows, in side view, the end arrangement of the glazing object of the invention; Figure 8 is a section taken on line VIII-VIII of Figure 7; Figure 9 is a section taken on line IX-IX of Figure 7.
In the exemplary embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 4, the glazing without mastic, which is the subject of the invention, is formed by the combination of the following elements: special profiles 1 having at least one core 2; on either side of said core a bracket or support piece, respectively 3-4, on which rest, by means of elastic joints, respectively 5-6, the glass plates, respectively 7-8 . The Orn 2 is superiorly bordered by a head 9 of rectangular cross section appreciably wider than the thickness of the core 2, The joint cover is produced by a relatively elastic strip profiled so as to present, in cross section, a tubular member 10 correctly matching the outer limits of the head 9;
this tubular element is extended below by two straight parts 11-12 themselves extended by an inclined wing, 13-14 respectively. This joint cover is as it can, by simple
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
pressure, be applied to the upper part of the special profiles 1 so as to completely surround the head 9, to rest against the upper part of the core 2 and to exert an elastic pressure on the glass plates 7 -8. The thus conditioned joint cover is firmly attached to the head 2, and this attachment is such that the pressure of the wings 12.-1 {. on the plates, glass 7-8 can be relatively large and in any case largely sufficient to provide the glazing with good stability.
This stability is further increased by the arrangement, from place to place, of calipers 15 having approximately an inverted U-shape, the free edges of which are straightened inwards. These elements have a height greater than the height of the head 9 and they are crossed by a bolt 16 which, by means of a nut 17, can exert on the two lateral branches a pressure force bringing a relative tightening. energetically between the straightened edges 18-19 of said yoke against the right part of the cover - joint, respectively 11-12. Relatively strong pressure effects are thus produced locally without altering the resistance of the elements thus stressed.
The pressure effect can be produced through said calipers 15 by any means other than bolts and nuts 16-17.
'****'
In the example of Figures 5 and 6, there is shown a variant; by which said bolts and nuts are replaced by a ferrule 20 driven on the upper part of the caliper 15 so as to produce a 'approximation between the lateral branches of the latter. This arrangement offers the advantage of extremely rapid implementation.
Finally, FIGS. 7 to 9 represent an accessory arrangement intended to stabilize the butt edges of the joint covers. For this purpose, there are arranged, on either side of the core 2, towards the ends thereof, stops 21-22 formed by small strips bent in the shape of a U between the branches of which comes s' immobilize the corresponding part of the cover joint.
These different characteristics can be used in various forms and in the usual applications of glazing without mastic.
