STANDARD DIMENSIONAL CRANKSET (BRACKET) ALLOWING AT WILL 'THE MOVEMENT' CIRCULAR OR. ALTERNATIVE PEDALS.
The present invention relates to a set, called gear, in vehicles propelled normally or occasionally by pedals' or the like, allowing at will either the usual circular movement of the pedals, or a reciprocating movement thereof.
The arrangement of this assembly allows it to be mounted directly on the vehicle without any modification of the construction or structure thereof.
This assembly is characterized by the other assemblies already recommended, by the fact that the toothed gears (planet gears), driving the crank shafts of the pedals in the opposite direction, are fixed to a shaft passing completely or in part through the shaft. one or both pedal cranks.
The shaft on which the axis or axes of these pinions are fixed is secured to a crown which is either kept fixed relative to the frame of the vehicle by any device to obtain the alternate movement, or made integral with the crank shaft of the pedals, for example by a movable wedge, to obtain the circular movement.
The amplitude of the reciprocating movement as well as the position of the pedals during this movement can be modified by moving, along the axis of the crown, the part holding it.
The drive of the crown where the toothed pinion of the chain is fixed, can be obtained either by rollers or balls housed in ramps, or by pawls, or by any other device.
According to one of the embodiments (see attached plan), the shaft B partly passing through the pedal crank shaft A, ends on one side with a square on which the four axes B 'of the pinions S are fixed. .- The other side is made integral with the crown D, kept fixed relative to the frame by the device L. The crank M is made integral with the axis A and is partly split for the passage of the device. stop L. -

The drive of the crown C on which the chain sprocket R is fixed, is obtained by rollers G housed in ramps formed in the axes A and A '.
The thrusts of the axes A and A 'is retained by a crown crossed by the axes of the pinions S. - The rollers' G are housed, by a stud left at their ends, in a split ring H which keeps them always in place. the direction of rotation of crown C by slight friction against it.

1. - As described above ,. '
2. - That the shaft carrying the axes of the pinions causing the reciprocating movement can also pass right through one or both of the crank axes of the pedals.
3. - That the circular movement can be obtained by any setting of the assembly, so that the two crank axes are integral with one another.
4. - That different reciprocating movements can be obtained by crowns placed differently at one or the other end of the crank axes.
