CARDE A'CHAPEAUX.

CARDE A'CHAPAUX.
The present invention relates to spinning hat cards. These cards are used in the treatment of the raw material for the opening and purification of the fibrous material.
Known hat cards have various drawbacks.
The waste that adheres to the caps and is referred to as stripping is presently loosened from the comb side of the machine by a suitable device and is then processed to obtain a spunable material of inferior quality. % of the raw material processed, this mode of use is not satisfactory.
In addition, due on the one hand to the removal of the jam and on the other hand to the cleaning of the drum which currently has to take place approximately every two and a half hours, the efficiency coefficient of the machine is relatively low. not high.
L9invention overcomes these drawbacks by the fact that the hat card has a device for detaching the hatches on the side of the breaker and reintroducing them into the sheet of raw material.
Under these conditions, the strippers are not detached in accordance with the invention from the comber side of the machine as was heretofore use, but on the breaker side, moreover, these strippers are not treated as waste but reintroduced again in the machine.
The invention can be implemented by providing above the breaker roll a stripping roller provided with a lining which rotates in the direction opposite to the direction of movement of the caps and which is adjustable relative to them. The embodiment is preferably such that the stripper roll transports the stripping on the drum and turns at the transfer point in the same direction as the latter. In this embodiment, the stripper and conveyor roller must have a higher peripheral rotational speed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
higher than that of the hats but lower than that of the drum.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the stripper and conveyor roller comprises a cleaning grid, for example constituted by bars, for the clearings collected by this roller.
This grid makes it possible to remove coarse impurities from the clearings which are preferably conducted to a collecting vessel placed below the grid. In this case it is particularly advantageous to give the grid an arcuate shape and to make adjustable its distance from the stripper and conveyor roller. It is useful to provide this grid with an adjustable guide spout relative to the caps and which penetrates into the dihedral angle formed by the caps and the roller.
The hat card machine produced in accordance with the invention is distinguished in that the stripping, at least as regards its parts having the most value, is reintroduced again into the web constituted by the raw material and is not therefore found no longer treated as waste until now. This results in 1-'avantage that the stripping device which has hitherto been indispensable and which is arranged on the combing device side of the machine, is eliminated.
A further advantage is that] The drum has to be cleaned much more infrequently than hitherto, eg only every ten hours. The numerous work interruptions which were indispensable until now are thus eliminated with the favorable consequence that the output of the machine per unit of time is considerably increased.
This result is also due to the fact that the speed of passage of the raw material through the machine can be made greater than hitherto because it is now possible to print on the caps a speed several times higher than that of the hats. 'it was previously ,,, from which it results ,, on the other hand ,, that the hats are cleaned much more often than before.
By way of example, below has been described and shown schematically in the accompanying drawing an embodiment of the hat card machine which is the object of the invention.
The drum. ± is provided with the usual packing., As are the caps f. The latter bring back, in accordance with the invention, the stripping during their return stroke from the combing side to the breaking side of the machine.
In the example shown, a device for detaching the knockouts and reintroducing them into the sheet of raw material is mounted above the breaking cylinder 1.
This device consists, in the embodiment shown, of a roller w which is also provided with a suitable insert, for example of steel wire or sawtooth. This roller is adjustable in relation to the caps f and to the drum. ± and it turns in the direction of the arrow X while the caps! rotate in the direction of the arrow Y and the drum in the direction of the arrow Z. The roller w has a peripheral speed of rotation which is higher than that of the caps f, but lower than that of the drum c.
The jams are removed from the caps f by the roller :! and they are brought to the grid r by the nozzle n thereof. At the same time, thanks to the lining of the roller w, there is combing of the cleaning on the edge of this nozzle. The large impurities contained in the clearings are discharged into the receiving hopper t on the one hand as a result of the cleaning effect produced by the bars of the grid and, on the other hand, as a result of the centrifugal force. in cross section in the shape of an arc of a circle, is usefully hinged in g so that its spacing from the roller w can be adjusted as required.
The grid r and the receiving hopper t which is subordinate to it can be omitted ,,, especially in the case of the treatment of artificial wool.
