SOMMIER DE LITo
Cette invention concerne les sommiers de lits dans lesquels une toile ou un treillis métallique est tendu dans un cadre et supporté par des ressorts. Elle a pour but d'augmenter la souplesse de ces sommiers, tout en combinant les qualités de légèreté et de solidité.
Conformément à l'invention, le cadre qui porte la toile ou le treillis comprend deux tubes longitudinaux dont les extrémités cintrées sont fixées par soudure ou autrement,, soit directement aux longerons du lit, soit à des supports reposant sur les longerons. Ces longerons., qui peuvent être rec- tilignes ou incurvés, et auxquels les supports éventuels sont soudés ou fixés d'autre manière, servent dans les lits et divans métalliques à relier entre eux les montants de tête et de pied du lit ou les pieds du divan. Dans les lits en bois ou avec spontes les longerons reposent sur les taquets des spon- tes de ces lits.
Les cubes cintrés du cadre portent,, à des intervalles convenables des traverses sur lesquelles reposent des ressorts hélicoïdaux qui supportent la toile entre ses extrémités. N'étant supportés qu'à leurs extrémités, ces tubes cintrés sont libres de fléchir élastiquement sous le poids qui leur est appliqué par l'intermédiaire des ressorts hélicoïdaux et ils contribuent, avec ceux-ci,, à conférer au sommier une très grande souplesse.
On a représenté, sur le dessin annexé à titre d'exemple, un som- mier de lit métallique suivant l'invention,vu en perspective.
Sur ce dessin on a désigné respectivement par 1 et 2 les mon- tants de pied et de tête du lit, par 3 les longerons constitués de tubes rectilignes et par 4 la toile tendue au moyen de ressorts 5 dans un cadre for- mé de tubes longitudinaux 6 réunis par deux traverses 7.
Les tubes longitudinaux 6 du cadre sont cintrés a leurs extrémités 6' et fixés en 8, par soudure par exemple,, à des supports 9 qui sont eux-mê- mes fixés en 10, de préférence aussi par des soudures, aux longerons 1 du lit.
Les tubes longitudinaux 6 portent, de distance en distance,des traverses 11 auxquelles sont fixés les ressorts hélicoïdaux 12 qui supportent la toile. Le poids supporté par celle-ci se répartit donc sur les ressorts 12

et, par leur entremise, sur la longueur des tubes 6 qui, étant en quelque sor- te suspendus à leurs extrémités à la manière d'un berceau, sont libres de flé- chir et contribuent à assurer au lit une souplesse et une élasticité accrues.
Il est bien entendu que des modifications peuvent, sans sortir'du cadre de l'invention, être apportées à la forme des pièces du sommier repré- senté ainsi qu'au mode de fixation des tubes cintrés aux longerons ou 'à leurs supports, ainsi que de ceux-ci aux longerons. Le mot "lit" est employé ici dans un sens large et couvre les lits et divans de genres divers.
REVENDICATIONS.
1.- Sommier de lit dans lequel une toile ou un treillis métalli- que est tendu dans un cadre et supporté par des ressorts, caractérisé en ce que ledit cadre comprend deux tubes longitudinaux qui portent les ressorts et sont cintrés à leurs extrémités, lesquelles sont fixées aux longerons du lit ou à des supports reposant sur ceux-ci.

The curved cubes of the frame carry, at suitable intervals, cross members on which rest helical springs which support the canvas between its ends. In this drawing we denote respectively by 1 and 2 the foot and head uprights of the bed, by 3 the side members made of rectilinear tubes and by 4 the canvas stretched by means of springs 5 in a frame formed of tubes. longitudinal 6 joined by two cross members 7.
