la fig. 1 est une vue en perspective d'une forme d'exécution du châlit selon l'invention;
ment plat (voir fig. 2).
orifices 10.

The present invention relates to a bedstead, in which parallel transverse supports are arranged between two opposed longitudinal members, and in which at least the edges of the transverse supports are provided with a bar or a metal wire.
The aim of the present invention is to considerably increase the resilience of the bedstead.
According to the invention, the metal bars or wires of each transverse support are bent convexly in the longitudinal direction of each transverse support.
In order to further increase the resilience of the bedstead, it is desirable that the metal bars or wires slide freely in the transverse support with which they are associated. However, in order to prevent the convexly bent metal bars or wires inserted in the transverse supports from curving during use of the bedstead, and in order to increase, therefore, the comfort of the bedstead, it is necessary that said bedstead wires or metal bars of each transverse support are held together firmly at least in a location in the direction transverse to said support. The convexly bent metal wires in the transverse support might tend to curve and assume a concave shape when considerable weight is placed on such a transverse support.
This is particularly the case when the free ends of the bar or wire are not firmly connected to the side members.
There is thus obtained the important advantage that the transverse supports can be easily manufactured using known extruder machines, provided that the transverse supports are made of plastic material.
In a preferred embodiment of the bedstead according to the present invention, the metal bars or wires are united substantially in the center and held firmly by means of a substantially flat connecting element, the width of which corresponds substantially to the width of the transverse support, and each transverse support is composed of two substantially identical parts sliding on the wires on each side of the connection element.
The present invention is described more fully by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
fig. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the bedstead according to the invention;
fig. 2 is a view of a detail of an incorporation of the transverse support, and
fig. 3 is a sectional view taken along line 111-111 of FIG. 2.
The frame of the bedstead in two parts, according to fig. 1, is composed of side members 1 and crossbars 2. The bedstead can also include more than two parts, for example, three including a footboard pivoting along a horizontal axis, a horizontal central part and a headboard pivoting along an axis horizontal.
Regularly spaced parallel transverse supports are arranged between the side members 1. These transverse supports 3 are preferably made of plastic material and, at least, the edges of said transverse supports will be provided with a longitudinal opening. The diameter of this opening will be, for example, 8 to 9 mm. Fig. 2 clearly demonstrates that the central part of each transverse support 3 contains three of these longitudinal openings, their diameter being less than the diameter of the openings made in the edges. Supports
crossbars of this kind can easily be made by
extrusion. Fig. 2 clearly demonstrates that the practical openings
quées in the edges of each transverse support 3 a bar or
a continuous metal wire 4.
The metal bars or wires 4 are
convexly arched in the longitudinal direction and give
to the transverse supports a convex shape, thus increasing
considerably the resilience of the box spring.
These metal wires 4 will preferably be. threads used
for the manufacture of springs, that is to say wires with
favorable elastic properties, and they will preferably have a
diameter of 6 or 7 mm. In the preferred application illustrated
in the figures, the free ends 5 of the bent metal wires 4
convex, form a tenon intended for an assembly
by tenon and mortise, for example by means of elas consoles
ticks attached to the side members 1.
To prevent bending of bent metal wires
convexly introduced into each transverse support 3
under the weight of the bedstead, the metal wires 4 of each support
transverse 3 are firmly held, substantially in their
middle, by means of a substantial connecting element 7
flat (see fig. 2). The width of the connection element 7
is equal to the width of each of the transverse supports and
each transverse support 3 is composed of two parts or
substantially identical halves, which are slipped over the wires
metal 4 up to the central part 7.
Finally, fig. 3 shows a presentation of such an element of
connection 7. This connection element 7 comprises
longitudinal openings 8 and 9 to block the metal wires 4.
for example by means of nuts and bolts mounted in the
orifices 10.
