METHOD OF MANUFACTURING GRILLS FOR TUBES AND DISCHARGE TUBE, INCLUDING
SUCH A GRID.
The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a grid for a discharge tube., Grid consisting of a planar ring, one side of which is stretched with parallel wires and which is fixed in the tube to a grill support, in general. -a disc sealed in the wall of the tube. The invention further relates to a discharge tube provided with at least one grid produced according to this method.
It is known to manufacture such grids by arranging the wires with a certain tension. During welding, they lose this tension, in general to such an extent that ... if the grid reaches a very high temperature under operating conditions, for example near a very hot cathode or when using the tube as an oscillator, the wires will sag or warp.
In a known embodiment of a square-opening grid ring, two opposite sides of the ring are slightly raised so as to bend it by bringing the raised sides somewhat closer together and the grid wires are stretched on these raised sides. ., they are welded and the square ring is then allowed to resume its flat shape, which tightens the grid wires. This process has a drawback - the grid wires break easily and furthermore, they are not pressed against the ring.
The invention provides a method of manufacturing discharge tube grids in which the wires are tightly stretched without causing any inconvenience.
In a method of manufacturing a grid for a discharge tube consisting of a flat ring, one of the faces of which is stretched with parallel wires, in accordance with the invention, the ring is placed, by its face stretched with wires on. a flat plate., one places on the other face, between the places of welding, a thin wire of hard material, directed perpendicular to the son of the grid, one prints this wire in the ring and finally one removed it. during

printing, the ring remains flat, the operation itself is very simple and inexpensive, and in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the ring, the grill does not undergo any deformation. So that all the threads elongate by the same amount, they are stretched over a square or rectangular opening.
The description which will follow with regard to the appended drawing, given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be implemented, the particularities which emerge both from the text and from the drawing being, of course, part of said invention. .
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a grid ring stretched with wires.
Figs. 2-4 are elevational views of the grid ring at various stages in its manufacture.
In fig. 1, the grid ring 1 is pierced with a rectangular opening over which are stretched a number of golden tungsten son 3, O.OI2 mm thick for example. This gilding allows the wires to be welded to the grid ring at a temperature of 1000 C. The welding causes a loss of tension in the wires. Perpendicularly to the grid wires, a tungsten wire 4 with a thickness of 0.15 mm is placed on the face of the ring not furnished with wire. Using an anvil 5, and a pressure punch 6, the wire is imprinted in the grid ring, so that the latter extends somewhat in the direction of the wire. wire rack. The printing force of the wire in the grid ring should not be too great so as not to deform the entire grid.
The extension thus obtained causes a tensioning of the threads; the removal of the wire 4 leaves a semi-circular impression 7 in the ring, which enables the workshop to check whether the grids have been retensioned or not.
