<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

NEW INCLINED DAIRY CRUSHER WITH CONCENTRIC, SEPARATE and OPEN ANNULAR BUCKETS.
Machines for grinding slag are already known, which are made by an inclined cylinder, the interior of which is generally made up of several compartments, each of these being separated from the neighbor by a grid through which the ground slag passes. in the previous compartment, thanks to the rotation of the inclined cylinder.
These machines give rise to serious drawbacks including in particular the continual plugging of the grids between compartments which requires the permanent presence of a worker responsible for cleaning them.
The object of the present invention is an entirely new mill, in particular eliminating the use of grills and consequently the drawbacks encountered in the old systems.
This new crusher in which grinding is generally done by wet process, but where one can also
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
to use the dry process, is characterized essentially by the fact that the grinding takes place in a series of annular buckets or tanks concentric with one another, these tanks or buckets being and remaining entirely open during the operation. tion of grinding. These annular tanks or buckets are mounted on a common shaft, driven by a rotational movement and said shaft is inclined at a certain angle with respect to the vertical so that the tanks or buckets themselves rotate. - turn of this tree with a certain degree of inclination.
The cups have a circularly recessed bottom and they are provided with two outer edges so that they can be connected to each other by means of a circular plate clamped on these edges. Each bucket thus constitutes a separate part, the second of which is placed against the first, the third against the second and so on, each of the buckets being connected to the next by means of a circular plate. Therefore, if necessary, for the repair or replacement of one or more buckets, it will suffice to detach the circular plate (s) fixed to the edges thereof to be able to remove the damaged bucket (s). and replace them with others.
The raw material, in this case the slag, is brought into the first bucket by means of a supply hopper and the latter is moistened in the same bucket by a water supply. It is understood that the slag falling into the first bucket where there are placed steel balls or massages of suitable dimensions, is crushed by them as a result of the inclination of the bucket and the circular movement of which the whole machine is animated.
Having reached a certain degree of grinding, the dough overflows into the next circular cup, where the same operation is repeated by means of other steel balls and so on until the last cup where the dough is collected to be discharged finally by means of pipes to the tank which surrounds the machine.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Each cup is characterized by the fact that its outer edge is higher than the inner edge, in order to prevent premature flow of the ground paste from one cup to another. In the case, for example, where the machine is composed of 4 concentric annular buckets, the outer edge of the 3rd bucket will be located approximately at a level of 0.3 cm. below the inner edge of the first bucket. The outer cup which receives the product from the last grinding is not as deep as the others, however its outer edge will be even higher to prevent the dough from overflowing. This last bucket, as mentioned above, is provided in its bottom with 4 pipes which turn with it and which plunge into a tank surrounding the whole of the machine.
Each bucket, as has been said, except the last one collecting the dough, is provided with steel balls or weights of suitable dimensions which, thanks to the rotation of the buckets and to the inclination of these, contribute to the grinding of dough.
The ring buckets are mounted on cross beams which have four wheels which roll in a circular U-shaped iron path located under the buckets.
The sleepers are provided with a circular band which rests against four rollers, the said rollers having the purpose of keeping the buckets in good place and of making them turn around the center of the machine. The circular U-iron is mounted on a concrete or masonry wall together with the support rollers, all of which are round in shape. The wall has a profile intended to give the inclination of the buckets.
Around the wall is placed a tank, also circular in shape, to which an appropriate height is given, so that the flow of the crushed paste through the four pipes of the last bucket, to which the desired length is given, is made d 'a normal way. The whole machine therefore has an appropriate inclination thanks to the profile given to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
support wall built to support the U-iron track of the wheels and the support rollers.
On the highest side of the wall and the tank, an access door will be provided to allow the positioning and maintenance of the operating mechanism. The latter will generally consist of the central shaft and a system of gears and worms actuated by belts and pulleys using an electric motor. In addition, three or four valves will be placed at various locations in the tank for drawing the paste out of the tank.
The figures of the drawing give, by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of the crusher, object of the invention.
Figure 1 shows a vertical section passing through the center of the machine, Figure 2 a perspective view, partially in section, showing all the buckets mounted on the circular U iron and the support wall, all surrounded by the tank containing the dough.
The feed hopper T contains the slag to be ground which is brought above the first circular cup 1.
The water arrives at cup 1 via a line V. Around cup 1 is placed the annular cup 2 to which it is connected by means of a circular plate L fixed on the outer edges of cups 1 and 2. Around the cup 2 is placed and fixed in the same way the annular cup 3 and finally the receiving cup 4 for the crushed dough surrounds the cup 3. This last cup 4, the bottom of which is not as deep as the others, is provided in its part bottom of four discharge pipes N which rotate with it and plunge into the circular tank R surrounding the machine.
The set of 4 buckets rotates around the inclined motor shaft H, the latter being actuated by a suitable mechanism J actuated by the engine E. The buckets are supported by cross members I fitted with four wheels B which roll
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
in a circular railroad U and surrounded by a metal band W resting on 4 support rollers G. Said iron U, as well as the rollers G are mounted on a concrete or masonry wall M constructed of so as to maintain the inclination of the buckets and the motor shaft H and has a circular shape. Around the masonry is placed the circular tank R intended to receive the crushed paste flowing through the pipes N of the bucket 4. Finally, we see in Figure 2 the access door 0 allowing the placement and maintenance of the mechanism J and motor M.
The draw-off valves, placed in certain places of the tank, are represented by S. The steel balls in cups 1, 2 and 3 are represented by Y.
It is obvious that instead of 4 buckets, the machine could have a lower or higher number of them, depending on the degrees of fineness that is desired for the dough.
The advantages of the new bucket crusher according to the invention are found mainly in the fact of the total elimination of the screens used in the grinding machines already known; the slag is fed to the machine in a visible manner, which prevents overfeeding; the removal is carried out in the open, the buckets being fully open; This therefore avoids any heating of the dough and it is no longer necessary to use fans or water lances as in known systems; repairing one or more buckets as well as the mechanism is extremely easy, so that full control of the machine can be exercised very easily.
