<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Ladite goupille passe
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Improvements to grain mills"
The present invention relates to grain crushers of the type comprising two cylindrical and coaxial grinding stones, mounted in a spindle or carcass, one of said stones (the rotating stone) being fixed to a rotating horizontal shaft passing through the surrounding, while the other (the non-rotating stone), which is axially movable for the purpose of adjusting its spacing from the rotating stone, is suspended and adjusted by a number of sliding rods passing through a surrounding wall. In this type of crusher, an adjustable clamping device is arranged to press the non-rotating grinding stone against
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The rotating stone by means of said rods.
The invention is, in its broad outline, characterized in that the clamping device is connected to one of the ends of the shaft carrying the rotating wheel by means of a coupling, such that the reaction force occurring on the clamping device, when the non-rotating grinding stone is pushed against the rotating stone, will be taken up by said shaft. Such a device avoids imposing the aforementioned reaction force on the splicing of the crusher, which is very advantageous in particular in cases where the surrounding of the crusher is made entirely or mainly of wood.
One embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a horizontal section through a mill constructed according to the invention, while Figure 2 is a horizontal section through a mill constructed according to the invention. partially sectioned side view of the crusher.
In the drawing, 1 and 2 denote the wooden side walls of the cylindrical frame and 3 its covering. In bearings 6 and 7 carried by a wooden frame 8 is rotatably and axially mounted, so as to be able to slide, a shaft 5 passing horizontally through the surround and carrying near one of its ends a pulley d 'drive 4. Inside the surround and near one of the side walls (1), there is provided a cylindrical grinding stone 9 (the rotating stone) which is fixed on the shaft 5 in such a way. to be driven by the latter, and near the opposite side wall 2, there is provided a cylindrical grinding stone 10, non-rotating, which remains stationary during operation.
The stone 10 has a central opening through which the material to be ground (the grain) is fed from a container 11 to the space between the crushing stones, or by means of a feed screw (not shown) mounted on the stone. tree 5 in a known manner. The stone 10 is surrounded by a strip of iron 12 to which is fixed a pin 13. Said pin passes
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
by an axial slot 14 at the top of the cover 3 and has at its upper end an enlarged head 15 which, resting on the portions of the cover 3 near the slot 14, supports the stone 10.
On each side of the shaft 5 and horizontally level with it, there are provided two rods 15b parallel to the shaft 5 which slide through openings 15a formed in the side wall 2, bearing with their ends interior against the stone 10. The exterior and res ends of these sliding rods 15b are threaded / connected in an adjustable manner to the ends of a yoke 16. In the middle part of said yoke 16, an opening 17 is made in the yoke is introduced. : a sleeve 19, internally threaded, which is mounted to tilt on two @ journals 18 arranged opposite each other.
In said sleeve 19 is passed a threaded actuating shaft 20, which is coaxial with the shaft 5 and provided with a handwheel 21. At the end of the shaft 5 facing the yoke 16 is fixed. one of the ends of a sleeve 22 by means of a spider, and in the other end of said sleeve 22, which is formed of an inwardly projecting rim 23, is introduced an end part 24 of the threaded shaft 20. At the free end of said end part 24 is fixed a ring 25, and between this and the end flange 23 of the sleeve 22 is disposed a ball bearing 26, the everything constituting a coupling between the shaft 20 and the shaft 5 allowing relative rotation between these two members.
Between the sleeve 19 and the flywheel 21 is mounted on the threaded shaft 20, a locking nut 28 having a protruding handle 37.
The grinding stone 10 is pushed towards the rotating stone 9 by rotating the threaded shaft 20 by means of the handwheel 21, which causes the sleeve 19 with the yoke 16 to move in the direction towards the stone 10, and it is clear
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
that the reaction force occurring on the threaded shaft 20 will be taken up by the shaft 5 carrying the rotating stone 9, via the pulley 26.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment described above and shown in the accompanying drawing, but may vary in detail without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
