<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Improvements to pouring caps.
The invention relates to pouring caps for pouring liquids, semi-liquids or powders, etc. from a bottle or other container.
Bottles of liquids or powders such as lighter fluid, ink, hair cream, oils or the like liquids or salts are usually sold with some pouring cap included. adapts when you need it.
There are a variety of such pouring caps, which include glass tubes inserted into caps, metal tubes inserted in the center of replacement metal caps - or the like, but they all have the disadvantage of being manufactured. relatively expensive, or cumbersome to use or go beyond the general outline of the article and thus be prone to deterioration or loss when packing the article.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The aim of this invention is to provide a pouring stopper which does not have these drawbacks, or which in any case constitutes an improvement to the articles known until now.
According to the present invention, the pouring cap has a detachable spout which can be turned upside down, capable of occupying two positions, the urn when it is completely enclosed in the container and the other when it is used for pouring, the container being in both cases closed by the pouring cap or associated elements.
Two examples of pouring caps according to the invention, each intended to be fitted on a glass bottle containing, for example, a fuel for lighters, are shown in the appended drawing in which FIG. 1 represents one embodiment and FIG. 2 represents another. .
The glass bottle has an ordinary neck with an external screw thread, which can be closed with a normal metal screw cap c. In this example, however, the plug c has a central opening d approximately 6mm in diameter. The pourer itself has a small metal spout.

The spout can be closed by an outer cap h which completely surrounds it. The cover h and the spout a are provided with discs 1 and i of sufficient size to cover the neck opening b while being able to be housed in the stopper c.
One or more washers such as k can be used if necessary.
The pourer or the cap can be made of materials other than metal, such as synthetic phenolic resin, impregnated paper glass, cellulose or plastic and the washer

can be rubber, fiber, metal or any other suitable material. The disc can be integral with the mouthpiece, and in this case, it is made of the same material or of a different material and is well attached. In the event that the spout is separated from the disc, they can be fixed to one another by riveting, gluing or otherwise or else simply engaged one in the other.
The construction shown in Figure 2 is similar, but in this case the metal disc l is removably or permanently attached to the washers II and n of cork, rubber or other suitable material, and the end of the spout is provided with a no screw in pet of a screw cap g. In this case the metal cap h is not necessary.
The pourer can be placed in two positions. The spout can face inward so that it is inside the bottle when the cap is screwed into place. In the case of Figure 1, the cap h surrounds the spout e, and the washer kest danscrtte position, interposed between the disc 1 and the edge r of the bottle, so that a tight seal is obtained. In the case of Figure 2, the spout is reversed so as to be directed inward and provided with its cap q, and the metal stopper c is screwed in place. In this case, a tight seal is obtained similarly.
To use the pourer, unscrew the cap c, remove the cap h or unscrew the cap c, turn the pourer over and insert the beak or o through the opening d, inserting the washer k if c ' is necessary. The cap is then screwed back into place and the pourer is ready for use.
If after use, it is desired to prevent evaporation or flow of the contents without having to turn the spout again, you can put the cap on or the cap q and leave the spout on the outside in its position. use.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
It is possible that when the container is packaged for sale, the pouring cap can be fully enclosed in the container and not at risk of getting lost, while being immediately ready for use if desired. The cap h can be made of paper or other material to be destroyed after use if desired. Or the closure can be ensured by means of a stopper capable of being pierced by a pin.
Note that the spout and its disc can be extruded or otherwise shaped as a piece of rubber, synthetic resin or polyvinyl chloride, if desired, and that by appropriately varying the size of the orifice, the spout can be used for powders as well as for liquids.
