Bloc de construction.
--------------------
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Building block.
--------------------
The present invention relates to a building block, the essential characteristic of which resides in that as a whole it takes the form of two superimposed right prisms, one of triangular cross section, the other trapezoidal, the prisms comprising hanging elements.
Another characteristic consists in that the two prisms each have a base edge of identical length, so that the lateral edges joining these two base edges can be in the same alignment determining the block a single facing surface, while the angle formed by the non-parallel sides of the trapezoidal prism corresponds to the angle opposite the base facing edge.
Other peculiarities and details will appear in the description of the block which follows, referring to the drawing in which:
Fig. 1 represents an element according to the present invention, seen from behind and in perspective,
Fig. 2 also gives, in perspective, two elements, one of which has undergone a rotation of 1800 with respect to the other around a horizontal axis, so as to show their assembly.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 3 shows the partial assembly of a wall by means of said blocks.
According to the embodiment shown in the drawing, the building block 1 is designed so as to have two right hollow prisms whose sections are different. The prism 2 is triangular while the prism 3 is trapezotal, one being an extension of the other according to their facing face.
The trapezoidal prism 3 at the large base 4 of a straight section but of a length equal to that of the large side 5 of the triangular prism 2, while the non-parallel sides 6-6 'of the trapezoidal section form between them a angle corresponding to that of the other two sides 7-7 'of the base of the triangular prism.
The hollow blocks are preferably internally reinforced with ribs 8. These ribs 8 form between them a triangle arranged inversely to the triangular shape of a straight section of the prism with the base in the form of a triangle.
The ribs 8 are provided firstly to reinforce the hollow blocks 1, then to allow maximum resistance to compression by giving the blocks a good base; in fact, according to the invention each block is placed on three other blocks when it is put in place to form a wall for example.
To allow the interlocking of two blocks as shown in FIG. 2, a notch 9 is provided in the part of the triangular prism element, in order to allow an engagement on the edge 10 of the trapezoidal prism part of an identical element arranged in the same alignment but turned 180 °. around its horizontal axis. For this purpose, the ribs 8 do not extend to the edge of the trapezoidal base thus leaving room for the introduction of the protruding part of the triangular nonfree base of the second block. Thus, the elements forming both
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
facing faces of the wall are strongly hooked to form a unit of great homogeneity.
As shown in fig. 3, the offset of the vertical seats is achieved by making use of trapezoidal elements 11 having the same height as the trapezoidal prism of an element.
The horizontal joints of one side of the wall will therefore be offset from the horizontal joints of the other side of the wall, while the vertical joints of each face are staggered.
It should be noted that the vertical and horizontal joints do not extend into the thickness of the wall following straight lines, but appear in broken lines, so as to avoid any possible continuity of infiltration.
The straight sections of the triangular prism appear in the form of an isosceles triangle, the angle of the vertex being chosen according to the dimensions of the block, but it goes without saying that the angle formed by the non-parallel sides of any cross-section of the trapezoidal prism will form an identical angle with that provided at the top of the triangular section of the block, so that said block comprises a triangular prism and a trapezoidal prism, three sides of which are exactly superimposed.
The invention has been described and illustrated purely as an indication and in no way limiting, and it goes without saying that numerous modifications can be made to its details, without departing from its spirit.
