<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

'' machine for continuous mixing of thick, pasty and firm substances Il.
The object of the present invention is a machine for the continuous mixing of thick, pasty and firm substances and in particular a machine with which substances which in their preparation have a certain viscosity and are to be cooled to freezing temperature or . be heated to a specified temperature for softening or cooking. 0 + is for example the case in cooling machines for the preparation of ice creams in which the ice cream has. tendency to settle on the walls of the cooling container or in machines for the preparation of nougat or the like in which the mass of boiled sugar adheres to the heated walls.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Hitherto the machines used for this purpose have various drawbacks. In general, in known machines, the mixer and scraper organ is driven back and forth.
The machine then has the disadvantage of not being able to be covered. This is not only disadvantageous from a hygienic point of view because apart from the introduction of dust and foreign bodies, the projection of lubricating oil required by the machine increases the risks of soiling the mass to be worked on. Not being able to close the cooling or heating container of the machine can also have the disadvantage of increasing the loss of cold to the point that it is not possible to prepare ice cream when the cooling machine is used during the hours. hot of the day while using the machine to heat the sugar mass tends to form a crust on the surface which does not mix with the underlying mass and the finished product is inhomogeneous and defective.
To avoid these drawbacks, rotary scraping devices have been designed for such refrigerating machines, but with unsatisfactory results; it then becomes necessary in these machines to give a certain re-entrant shape to the bottom of the tank, resulting in a reduction in the useful capacity of the tank and in the face of the impossibility of being able to scrape all the walls, some of which must be insulated. On the other hand, this does not give an impeccable preparation of the materials, the so-called "monite" effect of the ice does not occur. This effect is due to the incorporation into the pasty mass of multiple very small air bubbles which make the products in question light, soft or crumbly and improve their quality.
The object of the present invention relates to a machine of the category described which can be closed when in use and which, while eliminating the drawbacks of reciprocating machines, has the advantage of not requiring form tank
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
special having a reduced capacity but which, on the contrary, effectively scrapes all the parts exposed to the effect of cold or heat which avoids the need to isolate parts of the tank and also allows during work the "rise" of the material.
In accordance with the invention this result is achieved by the fact that the material to be scraped is by a shovel in the form of a screw which with its vertical axis is in agreement with an ideal imaginary circle which would be at an equal distance from two circles concentric formed, by the projection da the wall, enveloping the reservoir on the one hand and the central hub on the other hand, the edges of the shovel% both thus executed so that, during the rotation of the screw and of the reservoir, they are always tangent at all new points on the wall, bottom and central hub.
Incidentally, the object of the invention is to create a completely compact construction with an aesthetic appearance conforming to modern and elegant operations and in which the scraping device can be removed during manufacture.
An embodiment of a refrigerating machine has been shown in the drawings by way of example: FIG. 1 is a side view with some parts cut away; Figure 2 is a top view of the tank with its kings incubator. one sees in the drawings, at 1 the reservoir of the refrigerating machine to which a rotational movement is initiated by the axis 29. This movement can be done by hand by the handwheel 4 which transmits the movement to the axis by the pair of toothed wheels 10, this hand drive being only envisaged for a small rotation of the reservoir.
In the actual operation of the machine, the impetus is given by the electric motor 17 which, through the belt transmission 24, sets the axis 25 in motion.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
on which is fixed the steering wheel 4 already mentioned. At the bottom, the axle is fixed to a hub 26 and ends with a cone 21; this is held in the direction of the axle by means of a spring 20 on a support fixed to the frame and carrying a hub 22. This assembly allows elastic support for the main axis of the device and the damage is thus compensated for by taking up the proper play of the axis.
If the machine is to be used for the preparation of ice cream, the colder parts of the reservoir bathed in the cold solution are; the bottom of the tank 27 and the hub? 6. Inside the tank 1 is placed the scraper 2; the latter is mounted on an axle 28 having a groove and being able to move in the direction of the axle, a key placed in the hub 30 is in engagement with the groove to prevent the rotation of the axle in the hub.
The hub 30 is integral with the wheel driven by the pair of toothed wheels 11. The pair of toothed wheels 11 receives its impulse from the axis 29 which is itself driven by the motor by means of the pair of toothed wheels. 10.
The scraper device 2 has the form of a screw-shaped shovel which, during rotation, describes with its edges circles with a diameter corresponding to the space between the internal wall of the tank 1: .. and the surface of the hub 26 etbalaie continuously with its lower end the flat bottom not including any inward bulge.
As the tank turns in one direction the screw turns in the opposite direction, continuously scraping the walls and the bottom and also sweeping the surface of the hub 26; by this movement the materials are continuously lifted and aerated in the tank. To prevent the lifted material from overflowing, the screw changes pitch at a certain height at point R so that from this level the material is brought back. The screw 2 can be removed from the reservoir 1. For this, we act on the handle 3 which turns the toothed pinion 31; this toothed pinion 31 is
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
in, engaged with the rack 13 which is integral with the carriage 12 to which the scraper screw is held. The screw is removed from the tank to remove the ice when the tank is emptied.
For this purpose the connecting bush 19 is withdrawn from the axle part 29 e: t slid upwards to the collar 23. The axle 29 is for this purpose executed in two parts which are assembled in the bush. 19 by tenon and mortise or similar assembly and this assembly is undone, as indicated, by simply sliding upwards, up to the collar 23, of the sleeve. In this state the upper part of the shaft remains maintained, while the lower part can be removed from the machine with the tank. @
The scraper device can be centered thanks to the screw 5 which can be fixed by the lock nut 6. In the radial direction the device is put in place by the eccentric 7 which is fixed by the screw 8.
There is further provided an arrangement for tensioning the belt 24; for this purpose, a hand lever 14 is provided with which, after unscrewing the screw 15, the carriage 16 carrying the motor 17 can be moved and fixed again on the frame 18, thus tensioning the belt.
As is apparent in particular from the figure, the tank 1 can also, during use of the machine, be closed by a cover 32 which is placed on the frame 35 fixed in a suitable manner. The cover is provided with handles 33 or the like and has a radial notch into which can be connected a projection or bearing 34 which is fixed to the carriage 12.
On this radial projection also rests the lower end of the pin 28 on which the screw 2 is fixed. The cover can also be made of transparent material to allow the inside of the tank to be seen from the outside. it goes without saying that the shapes, details, raw materials and various arrangements may vary without departing from the scope of the present invention.
