Suivant une première forme de réalisation de l'arrangement de lames ou d'aubes , ce dispositif com-. prend une lame flexible dont le bord extérieur extrême est amené à ''lécher'' ou à passer légèrement sur la paroi latérale de la chambre de mélange pour mélanger intimement les ingrédients en faisant que ceux-ci frottent contre_la paroi latérale de la chambre réfrigérée , la lame flexible étant inclinée par rapport au fond du récipient ou de la chambre , dans deux plans qui se recoupent, la lame étant inclinée suivant un angle positif (par rapport à la direction de rotation) supérieur à 90 degrés, cette lame ou aube ayant pour effet de nettoyer le fond de la chambre de mélange et de faire en même temps que les ingrédients soient transportés du bas vers le haut en s'écartant de ce fond ;

<EMI ID=3.1>
The present invention relates to an autonomous device, for domestic use, for the manufacture of ice cream or ice cream. Machines for making, at home, different types of ice cream or ice cream include a container for
the ingredients, provided inside with a rotary blade driven by a reducing motor group.
This type of electrical household appliance must then be brought into contact with a low temperature atmosphere, for example by introducing the machine for making ice cream into the so-called `` freezer '' part of a refrigerator where it is left on. time required for the finished product to harden.
These conventional ice cream machines therefore require an auxiliary refrigeration unit to allow the preparation of the finished product.
The quality of the ice cream depends to a large extent on the kind of work to which the ice cream is subjected, from the initial state where the ingredients are in a liquid state to the final, more viscous state, where the ingredients gradually acquire a gradual increase in density.
For this reason, it is necessary that the mixing means are suitably shaped to allow the degree of work of the ingredients to be obtained while they are in the liquid state or in the viscous state.
The classic mixing devices, made of rigid stainless steel, do not lend themselves to proper work of the ingredients because
that, during their movement, these devices do not clean the walls of the enclosure or mixing chamber,
so that the wall is covered with a layer of ice which, on the one hand, will prevent the exchange of frigories between the walls of the enclosure and the ingredients and which, on the other hand, will be annoying for the effects of mixing exerted by the blade on the ingredients.
An object of the invention is to provide a machine for the manufacture of ice cream, for household use, which is equipped with means suitable for producing the different types of ice cream, thereby eliminating the need to have to use a refrigerator assembly. complementary to cool the ingredients.
Another object of the invention is to provide
an ice cream making machine, in which the motor driven agitator, associated with the machine, rather than scratching the inner surface
of the refrigerated enclosure so as to rigidly detach the frozen ingredients from it, exerts on this surface a cleaning effect similar to that of an <EMI ID = 1.1>
slightly and evenly the above surface, removing ice deposits by an elastic rubbing action.
In this way, in addition to preventing the probable formation of ice encrustations on
the interior surface of the refrigerated enclosure, a better distribution of the colder product is also obtained, which attaches to the walls of the enclosure, towards the less cold interior regions of the material and vice versa.
The machine for producing ice cream according to the invention makes it possible to improve the work of
ice cream in such a way as to impart to the product obtained in this way the particular typical consistency of a "runny" or gently flowing dough, of very great value and very high quality.
Yet another object of the invention is to allow the production of ice creams or ice creams containing fruit (sorbets) or other similar types of ice cream, obtained by mixing the main ingredients with fruit in small plots or another ordinarily tender material which must be crushed to properly disintegrate its pulpy and fibrous elements to allow the material to be intimately mixed and incorporated with the other ingredients.
The foregoing and other objects of the invention are achieved by the improved type of household appliance for the manufacture of ice cream according to the invention, where the machine for the manufacture of ice cream is essentially characterized by the fact that '' it is equipped with independent means for cooling and working the ingredients used in the preparation of different types of ice cream or ice cream.
These means suitable for cooling and working the ingredients essentially consist of a compressor, a condenser, an exchanger and a refrigerator coil wound helically on the inner wall of a housing means in which is received the mixing chamber intended to load the ingredients necessary for the preparation of the ice cream. This room is equipped with an arrangement
blades or blades, driven by a reducing motor group also incorporated into the compact box-shaped body, or casing, of the machine for making ice cream.
The arrangement of blades or vanes coupled to the machine for the production of ice cream according to the invention is arranged so that it can rotate inside the refrigerated mixing chamber and, according to the invention, it is provided at least one flexible blade, made of elastic material.
According to a first embodiment of the arrangement of blades or blades, this device com-. takes a flexible blade whose extreme outer edge is caused to "lick" or pass lightly over the side wall of the mixing chamber to intimately mix the ingredients by causing them to rub against the side wall of the refrigerated chamber, the flexible blade being inclined relative to the bottom of the container or of the chamber, in two overlapping planes, the blade being inclined at a positive angle (relative to the direction of rotation) greater than 90 degrees, this blade or blade having the effect of cleaning the bottom of the mixing chamber and at the same time that the ingredients are transported from the bottom to the top away from this bottom;
the device also includes an arm with a substantially vertical axis, the outermost edge portion of which is made to lick the inner side wall of the refrigerated chamber, the ingredients being brought into the low-temperature peripheral regions of the enclosure, to move to higher temperature regions located further inland.
The role of the flexible blade is to rub the mass on which the work is carried out by causing it to move in close contact or with friction with
the walls of the room. This rubbing action will, on the one hand, improve and complete the work of the ingredients and, on the other hand, it will help to maintain in a clean state the refrigerated walls which are then ready to receive the product to be cooled. The mixing, both in the vertical direction and in the horizontal direction, of the ingredients, in addition to improving the working of these materials, will also have the effect of obtaining a continuous and homogeneous distribution of the frigories thereby reducing significantly the existence of regions having different temperatures inside the mass of the product.
The machine for making ice cream according to the invention will now be described with reference to the drawings attached to this specification which show, by way of non-restrictive examples, shapes

The ice cream making machine according to the invention is shown as a whole in the figure
1 and is designated by the reference number 1. It comprises a compact body 1 ′, in the form of a box, inside which seats forming recesses have been provided for housing the container or chamber 3, as well as the electrical elements and motor-driven, related, individual devices which will be discussed in detail in the following description.
This ice cream making machine
is equipped with an individual refrigerator assembly which essentially comprises (see FIG. 1) a condenser 2, an exchanger 2 'and a compressor 11 which supply the coolant to the coil 4 provided
inside the seat forming recess, designed
to accommodate the chamber 3 in the body 1 'of said ice cream making machine.
The chamber 3, conveniently closed by a cover 10, has the shape of a tank comprising a mount for a shaft 5 ′ designed to cause the rotation of the arrangement 5 driven by the motor (see FIG. 3), this motor being located from so as to be able to rotate inside the chamber 3. The shaft 5 'is driven by a reducing motor group 8 incorporated in the electrical household appliance.
When ice cream has to be prepared, the shaft 5 ′ is engaged to click on the arrangement 5 and the appropriate switching means are actuated, provided
on the electrical household appliance (which is connected to the distribution network), the refrigerator assembly being thus started and arrangement 5 being driven, to make it rotate, by the reducing motor assembly
8.
The machine for making ice cream is further provided with a counter device 6 for controlling both the mixing time and the cooling time for the ingredients constituting the ice cream.
The arrangement of blades 5, driven by a motor, shown in FIGS. 2 to 5, adapted to the machine for making ice cream according to the invention, comprises a flexible blade 12, made of an elastic material, which is fixed to the vertical shaft 7 of the arrangement with an inclination given in the two planes xy and yz which overlap with respect to the bottom 14 of the chamber 3.
This inclination in the xy plane and in the direction of rotation of the arrangement of blades 5 (see the arrow in FIG. 2) makes a positive angle a of 10 to
80 degrees (see Figure 5), while the inclination in the yz plane is equal to a positive angle including in the range of 0 to 45 degrees (see Figure 5A).
In addition, the edge 12 ′ of the blade, which is distant from the shaft 7, is caused to be pressed elastically against the side wall 9 of the mixing chamber 3.
The inclination and rotation of the blade 12 in the direction of rotation of the arrangement 5 shown in Figure 2, have the effect of helping to distribute the ingredients evenly inside the chamber and mixing intimately ingredients by rubbing against the walls of the mixing chamber.
Speaking in more detail, it will be said that the inclination in the vertical xy plane of dawn
12 helps to circulate the ingredients continuously from top to bottom of the chamber, while the rubbing action of the edge 12 'against the wall 9 of this chamber has the effect of obtaining better homogenization of the ingredients which , due to the aforementioned elastic friction effect, are brought
to be spread against the inner wall of the mixing chamber and suitably mixed, with pressure, against said wall.
At the base of the rotary shaft 7 is fixed a flexible blade or blade or wing-shaped element,
13, having a horizontal axis, the surface of which is inclined in the xy plane at an angle over
90 degrees, positive with respect to the direction of rotation of the blade or blade 13 (Figure 5). The latter, when in motion, regularly removes, by its lower edge, the ingredients from the bottom 14 of the chamber 3, to transport them upwards by moving them away from the bottom.
At the end of the blade or blade 13, remote from the shaft 7 is fixed an arm 15 of longitudinal axis, which is inclined at the same angle that the surface of dawn
or blade 13.
The combination of dawn or blade 13 and arm
15 has an L-shaped configuration where the horizontal branch of the L is the blade or blade 13 fixed to the shaft 7 and where the vertical branch is the arm 15.
The purpose of the arm 15 is to remove the ingredients from the wall 9 of the chamber 3 to transport them to the innermost regions, which are less cold, of the volume of the chamber. In this way, the arm 15 helps
to keep the refrigerated walls in the cleaned state
thus facilitating the exchange of frigories with the ingredients to be cooled.
Thus, to sum up, the arrangement 5 driven by a motor has the effect of producing an intimate mixing of the elements, from the bottom up, from the periphery towards the center of the mixing chamber, and vice versa.
Also, dawn 12 is working the ingredients
both by simply mixing them and causing them to rub against the walls of the chamber (the serrated or striated edge 12 'of the blade cooperating to exert a mixing action on the ingredients), while the blade or blade 13 and the arm 15 cooperate to clean the walls and the bottom of the tank which contains the refrigerated ingredients, and they carry out the intimate mixing of the mass subjected to work.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 2 to 5, the motor driven arrangement 5 consists of a single body of a flexible laminated material, which comprises the shaft 7, the blade 12
and the L-shaped arm 13.15.
In the embodiment of the motor-driven arrangement 5a of the ice cream-making machine according to the invention, as shown in FIGS. 6 to 9, the flexible blade 12a, apart from being inclined by a angle a in the xy plane and an angle y in the yz plane, as already explained about dawn
12, also has a curved surface of horizontal cross section which takes the form of a branch of a parabola tangent to the wall 9 of the chamber 3
(see figure 7).
This configuration of the blade 12 promotes the friction of the ingredients against the surface of the chamber; it also helps to mix the less cold ingredients completely by urging them to pass from the center of the tank to the cold peripheral regions of this tank.
The horizontal blade or blade 13a (similar to the blade or blade 13 described above) is provided with an elongated slot 16 which has the effect, during the rotation of the arrangement 5a, of creating vortices helping to completely mix the ingredients. The arm
15a (corresponding to the arm 15), in addition to being inclined, also has a twisted or warped shape which it has acquired by having its arm 15 twisted along its longitudinal axis in the direction of rotation of the assembly blades
or agitator 5a. In this way, the ingredients are guided from the periphery towards the center of the enclosure 5.
In the embodiment of the motor-driven agitator and the refrigerated tank shown in FIGS. 10 to 13, the ice cream maker according to the invention lends itself to being used for crushing the pulps. of fruit added to the ingredients making up the ice cream. In this variant, protruding ribs 18 are provided on the bottom 14 of the mixing chamber 3, which are distributed in a radial arrangement inside the latter.
The agitator 5b is provided in this case with the dawn
or blade 13b and arm 15b, these members being similar to those which have already been described, whereas instead of having a blade 12, the agitator is equipped here with a blade 17 which is also flexible. As seen in Figures 10 to 13, the blade 17 consists of vertical and horizontal wall elements connected together by
a part with leaves or rounded corners. As can be seen particularly in FIG. 13, the vertical part of the blade 17 has a width in the radial direction
which increases from top to bottom, the outermost edge of which leaves a fillet, so as to correspond, near the bottom of the mixing chamber, to the fillet of
the latter.
The vertical part of the blade 17 is permanently mounted on the shaft 7, parallel to this shaft, and the horizontal part 17 'is pressed elastically against the bottom 14 of the mixing chamber 3 to lick the inner vertical wall of this bedroom.
During the rotation of the agitator 5b inside the mixing chamber 3, the blade 17 will touch the bottom 14 by its lower end 17 'and, consequently, it will touch the ribs 18 provided on this bottom (as shown in phantom in Figure 12). In this way, the dawn 17 will crush the small pieces of fruit added to the material, to disintegrate the pulp and the fibrous substances contained therein, allowing these substances to mix easily and to be incorporated into the mass undergoing the work and which is formed, for the most part, of the basic ingredients.
In this way a homogeneous product is obtained, the starting ingredients of which, in addition to being the essential components for the production of ice cream, also contain auxiliary ingredients which, as in the case of small pieces of fruit and the like must be crushed and shredded to allow their total incorporation into the mass of the ice cream.
The agitator 5c as shown in FIGS. 14 and
15 constitutes another possible form of motor-driven agitator device for the machine for making ice cream according to the invention.
In this embodiment, the shaft 19 carries, fixed on it, a blade 12, a vertical arm 15c and an inclined blade 13c, all these parts being made of a material which is elastic and flexible by itself. The arm 15c and the blade 13c are substantially similar to the arm 15 and to the blade 13, respectively, of the agitator 5 and are designed to fulfill the same roles as these latter elements. The blade 20 has here the shape of a vertical spatula which has the effect of meeting, by its outermost edge, the inner wall of the mixing chamber 3, as already explained with respect to the blade 12.
In the present case also, the elements which form the agitator 5c will help to circulate the ingredients inside the refrigerated mixing chamber; moreover, they gently clean the walls of the tank to remove frozen encrustations and they will cause the ingredients to be mixed completely by their friction against the interior surfaces of the tank.
In the alternative embodiment of the ice cream maker shown in <EMI ID = 2.1> carries a seat forming recess, 23, provided on
it to fit on it the threaded end 24 of a mixer 25. The latter is equipped with a cutting blade
25 'arranged to come into contact with the head of a
<EMI ID = 3.1>
of the electrical household appliance in question.
In addition, the machine for making ice cream according to the invention can be arranged for heating liquid foods introduced into the mixing chamber 3.
In this case (see FIG. 18), the seat forming a recess 3 ′, intended to house the tank 3 is also provided with an electric immersion heating coil 26, the coils of which are wound alternately with the coils of the cooling coil 4. In this embodiment of the invention, separate switching means are provided on the ice cream making machine to start the refrigerator system, operate the blade and switch the electric heating.
