Fig. 1 montre la civière déplies, prête à l'usage,
Fig. 2 la représente partiellement pliée, et
Fig.3 complètement pliée;
Fig. 5 en est une vue de côté, et
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY
SUBMITTED IN SUPPORT OF A REQUEST
OF INVENTION PATENT Mr. Boris EDELBERG Rolling and folding stretcher.
The present invention relates to a rolling stretcher, of the single-wheel type, which offers the advantage of folding in a very small volume to be easily transported or renalised, for example., And which comprises a very effective elastic suspension, absorbing shocks rolling over uneven ground.
According to the invention, the stretcher, the side members of which are folding in the middle, rests on the wheel by means of a V-shaped frame, folding at the top which carries the wheel, and articulated on the side members so that the stretcher and the chassis fold into each other. The length of the stretcher thus folded is reduced by approximately half. It is also possible to reduce its width. To this end, in accordance with the invention, the crossbars of the stretcher are folding or removable to allow the side members to be brought together, while the sides of the frame again each have the shape of a folding V at the top, to lend themselves to approximation of the spars.
Completely folded, the stretcher is in the compact form of a bundle, which can still be carried on the support wheel like a wheelbarrow.
This wheel is suspended from the frame by two bent arms forming a crankshaft with the axis of the wheel and subjected to the action of torsion springs which elastically dampen the movements of the wheel relative to the frame.
The description of the appended drawing, which represents by way of example an embodiment of the invention, will make it clear how it can be implemented. In this drawing:
Fig. 1 shows the stretcher unfolded, ready for use,
Fig. 2 shows it partially folded, and
Fig.3 completely folded;
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the support wheel with part of the chassis, on a larger scale, showing the elastic suspension,
Fig. 5 is a side view, and
Fig. 6 a detail view of an articulation of the chassis, partially cut away.
The stretcher shown in Figs. 1 to 3 has two
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
folding side members 1, the and two co: apas or folding cross members 2, 2 ', a canvas in two parts 3, 3' and a rolling and folding frame whose single wheel 4 is connected to the side members 1, 1 'by two pairs ae 5, 5 'and 6, 6' crutches arranged in V.
Each folding spar 1 is made in three parts.
On the intermediate part 7, ae short length, slips a split sleeve 8 which prevents the joints 9 '10 from bending when the stretcher is in use. At the two end parts are articulated sockets 11, 12 which can serve as support feet for the stretcher when the latter is detached from the rolling frame, and in which the crutches 5, 6 are fixed by means of pins 13 when using the stretcher. rolling frame.
On either side of the wheel 4, the crutches are articulated in 14,15 (14 ', 15') on two parallel bars 16, 16 'of short length, carrying two ball bearings 17, 17' in which two bent arms 18, 18 'swirl, fixed on the axis 19 of the wheel 4 and provided with damping springs 20, 20' working in torsion (Fig. 4).
As shown in Fig.6, each of the parallel bars is formed of two parts 16, 21 capable of rotating one inside the other, the outer part 16 being tubular. These bars thus constitute articulations allowing the crutches of the same pair to come closer, like the side members of the stretcher.
To bend the latter, the joints 9, 10 are released by sliding the fenaus sleeves 8 on the side members and the calipers 2, 2 'are relaxed. The stretcher collapses between the pairs of crutches of the frame by pivoting on the articulations of the sockets 11, 12, while the pairs of crutches pivot towards each other on the articulations 14,15. At the same time, no longer being held apart by the compasses 2, 2 ', the folded side members approach, as well as the crutches, this time pivoting on the joints 16,21.
The double pivoting movement of the crutches finally causes them to be placed in a bundle, parallel to each other and to the side members which are housed between the crutches (Fig. 3). In this compact form, the folded stretcher has only a very small footprint compared to that which it presents in the unfolded state.
The various joints can be fitted with locking devices ensuring the rigidity of the stretcher and of the frame in the unfolded state. of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment and to the details of implementation which are given by way of example, and one would not depart from its scope by making modifications thereto.
