Dans'son brevet principal, le Demandeur a décrit un système d'ancrage sous tension de câbles traversant des masses de béton auxquelles ils n'adhè- rent pas. Dans ce système, on fait passer le câble à ancrer dans un tube très résistant noyé dans le béton et fortement adhérent à celui-ci, puis le câble une fois tendu par des moyens extérieurs, on comprime très énergiquement un corps mou capable de durcir, tel que du mortier de cimenta entre les fils du câble et la paroi intérieure du tube résistant;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
@
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Method and device for anchoring tensioned cables intended for the production of constructions in concrete or other prestressed materials".
In his main patent, the Applicant has described a tension anchoring system for cables passing through concrete masses to which they do not adhere. In this system, the cable to be anchored is passed through a very resistant tube embedded in the concrete and strongly adherent to it, then the cable once stretched by external means, a soft body capable of hardening is very vigorously compressed, such as cement mortar between the wires of the cable and the inner wall of the resistant tube;

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in the case where this tube constitutes a cavity of generally frustoconical shape, this compression is carried out for example by means of a wedge introduced into the axis of said cavity.
The purpose of the mortar was to achieve equal action on the various wires despite accidental differences in diameters: the Applicant has found, however, that the presence of this mortar was not essential to obtain this result.
Instead of being coated with a steel tube, as in the main patent, the wall of the frustoconical cavity formed in the concrete can simply be lined with a hoop with contiguous turns of hard steel with high elastic limit. The frustoconical wedge driven into the axis of the cavity can be formed by a mass of concrete provided on the outside with a hard steel friction or a steel sheet these coatings regulate the compressive force of the wires on the concrete of the wall of the cavity and the wedge prevent deterioration thereof, but allowing a certain plastic deformation of all the parts which regulates the action on the various wires in the manner of a hydraulic distribution.
It is these modifications and improvements which are the subject of this addition.
Anchor blocks comprising the frustoconical cavity with its hoop, a mass of concrete encasing the latter / periphery and a second hoop of mild steel arranged near the / of this mass of concrete, can be produced. in advance and placed at the desired points of the formwork, when laying the cables before the concrete is poured.
The description which follows, with reference to the appended drawing given by way of nonlimiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be carried out, the particularities which emerge both from the drawing and from the text being, of course, part of it. this one.

The rod 1 is a partial sectional view, along the axis of a cable, of an embodiment of the anchoring device.
FIG. 2 is a developed schematic view, on a small scale, of a hoop arranged outside the anchoring block.
Fig. 3 shows an embodiment of a wedge.
Fig. 4 is a cross section of a variant of the wedge.
In fig. 1 shows the son of the cable at 1 which are housed in a sheath 2 placed before the concrete is poured Z, as described in the main patent.
At each end of the cable or at only one of its ends, if the other is provided with ordinary anchoring means, there is an anchoring block manufactured in advance and which will be described. This block comprises a mass 4 of substantially cylindrical shape made of very good quality concrete, fitted towards its periphery with a mild steel hoop 5 and, along the axis of the cable to be stretched, with a cavity 6 of substantially truncated shape. nique that the wires of the cable pass through. The wall of this cavity is formed by a hoop 7 with contiguous turns of high strength hard steel on which the concrete 4 is con le. The block thus formed is threaded onto the end of the cable before the concrete 3 of the structure is poured and fixed to the formwork.
Around this block there is a hoop formed by a strand of wire 8 in a zig-zag fashion and a few turns 9, as shown on a smaller scale in fig.2.
The concrete is then poured 3. When this concrete has set and hardened, the formwork is removed and a wedge 10 is placed in the axis of the aavity, which can be formed in fig. 3 by high strength concrete 11 poured on a core
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
central tabular 12 in steel and coated with a friction 13 with contiguous turns of hard steel Then, using the jack device which was described in the main patent, the ends 1a of the wires 1 are pulled so as to bring them to the desired level of tension, after which the wedge 10 is driven into the axis of the cavity, creating an energetic clamping of the threads between this wedge and the wall of the cavity.
By this tightening, the hoop 7 is subjected to a high tension determining its elastic deformation and the concrete 4 of the anchoring part is compressed between this hoop and the hoop 5 which is also tensioned although at a lower rate than the friction 7 The friction 8, 9 is used to distribute in the concrete 3 of the block, the forces transmitted by the outer friction 5 of the anchoring block.
The anchoring is thus completed, we can remove the jack and cut the ends of the son.
Through the tubular central core 12 of the corner, one can inject into the gatne 2 a rust protection material, such as a cement grout, a synthetic resin or any other filling material.
In the variant of the wedge shown in FIG. 4, the hoop 13 is replaced by a covering 14 of steel sheet which may advantageously be provided with grooves 14a arranged along the generatrices of the cone and serving to house the son of the cable.
It is also possible to obtain a good tension of all the wires by replacing the concrete wedge by a metal wedge, preferably machined in such a way as to present ridges of any arrangement which, by penetrating into the metal of the wires, increase the power of the friction. .
@
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The plasticity of the outer conical wall and that of the fila themselves are sufficient to ensure anchoring of all the wires, despite the small differences in diameter which they might present between them.
An advantage of this method is that it allows the threads to be stretched in several times; after a first tension, the jack can be put back in place, pull on the wires so as to bring them back by pulling the wedge and put it back in place after modifying the tension in addition or in less: in the latter case it just keep the wedge away from its final position by a device easy to imagine
It goes without saying, moreover, that the embodiments which have just been described have been given only as examples and that they could be modified without departing from the scope of the present addition. .
CLAIMS
1. Improvement made to the anchoring system which was the subject of the main patent, characterized by the elimination of the mortar or cement grout between the central corner and the frustoconical cavity of the anchoring block, anchoring being carried out only by the frictional force created by the tightening of a wedge introduced by force between the son of the cable in the axis of said cavity.
