<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"adjustable machine reamer."
The object of the invention is an adjustable machine reamer which, unlike the already known reamers of this species, allows the guiding and the irreproachable housing of the knives and, therefore, a retouching of the bores. the most precise.
The adjustable machine reamer according to the invention has in its body several longitudinal passages which form an acute angle with the axis of the body, in which are placed cylindrical knife-holders which wedging blades prevent them from turning. and which can move in the direction of the axis of the body by virtue of screw threads formed in a man-ohon and in which the wedging blades engage via a nose.

The reamer may / preferably have three 120 offset die bodies. Each knife holder is then provided with a wedging blade as a guarantee against rotation and to ensure movement in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the reamer. The blades can be wedged by a clamping member in any position.
The accompanying drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention given by way of example.
The fig.l shows a machine reamer, part in longitudinal section.
Fig.2 is a cross section along I-I.
Fig. 3 shows a plan view of a knife holder.
Fig. 4 shows a knife holder in front view.
Fig. 5 shows a cart in plan view.
The flg.6 shows a cart in front view.
In the body 1 are formed three longitudinal passages 3 at the end opposite to the standard cone 2. These longitudinal passages 3 form, in the direction of the axis of the body 1, an acute angle 4 with the axis. The outer diameter of the body 1 is smaller than the sum of the distance from the center of the passages 3 and their radius, so that the passages 3 are open over about a third of their circumference. These passages 3 serve to admit the cylindrical knife holders 5 which are placed in the passages 3 so as to be able to move there.
The knife holders 5 are fitted with knives 6. The knives 6 can, for example, be hard metal plates which are welded to the knife holders 5, plates on which a cutting edge has been cut exactly parallel to the blade. axis of rotation of the reamer. The knife holders 5 or their knives 6 protrude from the body through the open part of the passages 3.
These cylindrical longitudinal passages 3 which serve
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
@ to admit the knife holders, and the oylin- dric knife holders 5 themselves, can be manufactured considerably cheaper and with more precision than the grooves and the knife holders with other segments, for example with sections in terms of tails and the like and thus ensure considerably more precise work of the reamer.
In the body there are three longitudinal grooves 8 in which the blades 9 fit. The longitudinal grooves 8 have exactly the same width as the longitudinal grooves 7 of the knife holders 5. The blades 9 engage in the longitudinal grooves 7 of the knife holders 5 and prevent them from rotating. Two noses 10 of the blades 9 engage at the ends in the knife holders 5 and fix these also in the longitudinal direction of the blades, therefore the knife holders 5 are put by the blades 9 into the blade. inability to rotate and are fixed in longitudinal direction; on the other hand, a radial displacement of the knife holders 5 on the axis of the body is possible to the extent permitted by the inclined position at an acute angle of the passages on the axis of the body.
When moving the knife holders in the passages 3 the spacing of the axis of the body changes so that the bore diameter of the knives becomes larger or smaller. Turn operate the movement of the blades 9 and the knife holders controlled by them, we use a sleeve 11 which is rotatably mounted between the collar 12 and the ears 13 on the body 1. The sleeve 11 has a thread interior 14 in which the noses 15 of the blades 9 engage. By rotating the sleeve 11 in one direction or the other, the blades 9 and with them the knife holders 5 are moved to the left or to the right, so whether the bore diameter becomes larger or smaller.
Obviously, the sleeve 11 can have on its inner side several threads also so that each blade is moved by
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the intermediary of a particular net.
: to fix a desirable position, use is made of a nut 16 comprising an oone 17 which exerts pressure on the ends 18 of the blades 9 cut into a suitable cone. Thanks to this arrangement, the blades 9 are pushed by means of their nose 15 on the threaded groove of the sleeve 11 and then the blades are pushed on the bottom of the groove of the body 1, so that the movement of the blades of the reamer is excluded during work.
To facilitate the adjustment of the reamers and to allow the displacement to be measured, a scale 19 is provided on the nozzle 11.
