<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Il Stanchion or side rake for bottom trawl Il.
It has already been proposed to use for the candlesticks or rakes the form of bearing surfaces such as those which are usually employed for airplanes, but in this case, the longest line of demarcation of the surfaces has been used as a trailing base. Owing to the fact that these surfaces thus have only one inflow side of short length, these rakes have only a weak scraper effect.
The object of the invention is to obtain a high scraper effect with sufficient stability of the rake in use. This result is achieved in accordance with the invention by giving the rake the shape of a bearing surface and preferably the shape of a

By decreasing the width of the board upwards, 10) we move the center ù ;. gravity lower than where it is safely located in the rectangular planks so that

loading the head of the rake too heavily and bare it improves its stability. It is possible to design the rake, using the same idea of the invention, symmetrical with respect to an axis of

<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
which keeps the lower side of the rake at a certain distance from the bottom.
While, in the simpler construction of the rakes according to the invention, the scraping surface may be smooth, it has been provided according to the invention to improve the scraping effect of bulging or profiling the rake slightly back. To avoid, when the position angles of the rake are of different magnitude, too great a displacement of the pressure point and the resulting lack of stability of the rake, the crowning or profiling directed towards the rear side of the rake is not that low according to the invention; according to the invention, it does not exceed approximately 4% of the width of the surface of the rake. With this low crowning, a high scraping effect is obtained and, as is known, the position of the pressure point is more constant.
The use of stabilizing end panels, such as those known in aeronautics, at the ends of the bearing surfaces, is possible for the rakes according to the invention.
To facilitate the deployment of the scraping of the rakes, small regulating surfaces can be arranged on the long vertical sides thereof which aid in the deployment of the scraping.
The invention also provides for the arrangement of scuffing surfaces according to the description at a certain distance from each other, approximately in the same plane, one behind the other.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawings.
FIG. 1 represents an embodiment of a rake according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows a possible horizontal section of this one.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Figure 2a shows a sectional profile such as can be employed for all embodiments.
Figures 3 and 4 show, with the same means of representation, another embodiment of the invention.
Figures 5 and 6 show forms of rakes made up of two bearing surfaces arranged symmetrically with respect to a horizontal median.
-Figures 7 and 8 are horizontal projections of the previous ones.
FIG. 9, finally, illustrates a trailing stirrup arrangement for one form of rake, such as that which, for example, is illustrated in FIG. 5. The rake is designated in all embodiments by the reference numeral 1,
the ridge or lower side thereof which is turned towards the seabed or scrapes it by 8 while the side or ridge of influx or front side is designated by the reference 3 Reference 4 designates everywhere the ridge or the back side or the water flow side.
FIG. 1 illustrates a simple embodiment of the invention without the rounded corners; this may however, as indicated by the dotted line, be appropriate in all cases. Up to the height of the level line a. - a, the width of the rake is the same; from this point it decreases sharply towards the top; the flow side 4 is thus bevelled upwards while the inflow side 3 conveniently retains its vertical direction.
The rake according to figure 3 differs from that of figure 1 'because the rounding of the upper side.
The sections of Figures 2, 2a and 4 show possible forms of sections. Regulating surfaces 5, which are also underlined by a dotted line in Figures 1 and 3 support the scraper effect of the rakes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
It goes without saying that in these embodiments of the invention and in all the other embodiments of the latter, the profile of the rake can be given a shape in stream veins, according to FIG. 2a. , the width of this profile naturally being able to decrease upwards as a function of the width of the board.
In Figures 5 and 6, the shape of the rake is derived from the shapes described above, for example from the shape of Figure 3, due to the fact that two bearing surfaces are joined along a horizontal axis of symmetry 1 to form a surface, in a manner analogous to that in which the two bearing surfaces of an airplane are attached to both sides of the body. It goes without saying that the two surfaces form a single rake body, the axis of symmetry being only an imaginary axis. Preferably, @ the transitions between the inflow side or edge 3¯ and the water flow side or edge 4 have an arched shape, although it is also possible to consider flattening the bottom rounding to thus form a trailing base.
However, it is otherwise advisable in this embodiment of the invention to employ one or more additional trailing brackets or shoe-like devices 8 intended to support the rake on the seabed and to prevent its penetration therein. Trailing calipers of this kind can of course also be employed in the other embodiments of the invention.
The sections according to Figures 7 and 8 show that when the profile of the rakes is curved or profiled, the height h of the curvature should not suitably exceed approximately 4% of the width of the surface of the rake. - In addition, the profiled arrangement according to FIG. 7 makes it possible to modify the angle, given that the front part 11 of the rake is articulated on the rear part 13 by an articulation element 12 capable of being wedged. .
