<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Descriptive memorandum in support of the patent application for: "ATTACHE COURROIE"
The present patent relates to a fastener for a belt which does not require, during its use, any perforation of the belt or other preliminary operation on the latter * '
To this end, the envisaged belt clip is made up of a metal plate comprising in its middle and disposed transversely an opening or slot of a width corresponding to at least twice the thickness of the belt to be which it is intended for,
and of which the transverse edges facing each other are or shaped so as to be in the form of a series of teeth or asperities intended to engage on the outer face of the ends strands of the belt engaged in the slot or opening of the plate, or raised in a divergent direction so as to form with the adjacent edges raised in a vertical direction, a kind of trough or bowl open at the bottom and into which are introduced the strands of the belt which are then immobilized there by a wedge of particular shape which will be described in the following:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This plate also has along its longitudinal outer edges small wings of a height slightly less than the thickness of the belt arranged perpendicular to the plate and between which slip the ends of the strands of the belt before their introduction into the opening or slit of the plate.
By exerting a ttaction on the belt, the teeth of the edges of the plate penetrate into the belt and the attachment is instantaneously made.
You can, if desired, in order to strengthen the attachment, but this is not essential, engage a wedge whose two large edges or opposite sides, are provided with a toothing similar or different to that of the plate, between the contacting faces of the strands of the belt at the place where they are retained on the plate.
In the case where the plate has a trough or bowl there is an obligation to engage between the faces of the strands of the belt, in contact in the bowl, a wedge of the type described above and moreover is provided between the longitudinal faces and parallel to the trough, the engagement of a safety intended to prevent the expulsion or the loss of the wedge and constituted for example by a small blade forming a spring and braced in slight recesses or cavities made in the faces in straight and parallel gaze, from the trough or basin.
In order to bring out the above description more clearly, the appended drawings show by way of example:

<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
me reinforcing member for the attachment shown in FIGS. 1.9, 10.11.
Lafig. 8 a profile view of fig. 7. '
Figs. 9,10,11 are figures similar to those of fig. 2,3,4 with application of an accessory member shown in fig. 7 and 8.
Fig. 12,13,14, relate to plan, profile and front views of a strap clip in another embodiment.
Fig. 15 shows a plan view with the belt engaged in the clip and fig. 16 an elevation section along E-F fig. 15.
Referring to fig. 1,2,3,4,5, / the attahe is represented by a plate 1 and comprises, see fig. I, urn opening or transverse slit 2 whose long transverse sides 3 and 4, facing one of the the other, are provided with a series of small sharp teeth or protrusions.
The plate 1. comprises laterally, see frozen, 4 $ 5, the wings 5 of height less than the thickness of the belt whose strands are represented by 6 and 7.
In fig. 2,3,4 the attachment has been shown. applied to join the ends of strands 6 and 7 of the belt.
A simple inspection of the drawings, one can easily see the instructions for use: it suffices to engage the two strands 6 and 7 in the slot 2 of the plate 1. and after a pull in the opposite direction on each of the strands 2 and 7, the fastener is produced and is presented as indicated in the figures recalled above.
The invention provides, in order to reinforce the efficiency of the envisaged attachment, the use of a wedge 8 shown in FIGS.
7 and 8. This wedge 8 has a more tapered part 11 intended to penetrate between the two strands 6 and 1. of the belt, see fig. 9, while its upper part of a different conicity to that of the tip 11 comprises opposite edges 9 and 10 furnished with teeth or asperities, like the edges 5 and 4 of the opening 3 of the plate 1. '
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Figs. 9,10,11 show the envisaged strap attachment reinforced by the depression of the wedge 8 referred to above.
The other embodiment of the fastener 1 see fig.12,13,14, I5, I6 comprises on the plate teeth 3 and 4 edges or faces 12 and 13 raised in divergent direction, so as to form with the adjacent faces 14 and 15 raised in the vertical direction a kind of trough or bowl open from below through the opening or slit 2. On these faces 14 and 15 are for example formed small recesses 16 intended to form lev places of support of the ends of a small spring lane 17 in order to avoid the. loss of wedge 8 in the event that, as a result of the belt falling, wedge 8 would come to be cleared and consequently could be lost.
This blade 17 thus forms a retaining and safety member.
As shown in fig. 15 and 16, when the strands 6 and 7 of the belt are introduced and folded over the inner faces of the raised edges 12 and .13, the wedge 8, see fig. I6, is driven out and the small one is placed. blade 17 between its bearing housings 16. one
It goes without saying that instead of the] area 17 / could use any other equivalent security means, for example a wire or a bolt joining the faces 14 and 15 in the manner of a spacer, so as to prevent corner B from coming off.
It should be noted that in this embodiment of the fastener 1 the use of the wedge 8 is necessary.
It goes without saying that the plate 1¯, like the organ 8, can be made of any suitable metallic material and of the dimensions corresponding to the width of the belt for which they are intended.
