<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Reason Sle: Gebrüder Bühler in U z w i 1 (Switzerland), for the invention entitled Unloading device for ships comprising a chain conveyor for goods in the attic,
The present invention relates to an unloading device for boats comprising a transporter
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
chain for goods in attic.
In the unloading devices for boats known hitherto, it was provided either two separate chain conveyors for the sections of the conveyor gutter arranged at an angle one after the other, or a chain conveyor for the vertical gutter section and an adjoining inclined discharge pipe. In the first case, a complicated control of the two chains results, and in the second case, a loss of force occurs.
The unloading device for boats according to the present invention makes it possible to overcome these drawbacks, by the fact that two contiguous gutter sections and placed at an angle to each other, comprise the same conveyor chain, which is driven at the point of connection of the gutter sections by a guide means, for example a guide rail or at least one roller.
The two gutter sections are preferably articulated to one another to allow the vertical gutter section to be raised and lowered at will.
The drawing represents by way of example embodiments of the object of the invention:
Fig. 1 shows a view of an unloading device for boats aomportant two sections of gutter articulated to one another.
Figure 2 shows on a larger scale a section of the point of articulation, the gutter sections having a different angular position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
fig. 3 shows a view of the point of articulation with the gutter sections in a third angular position.
Fig. 4 is a partial section of FIG. 3, fig. 5 is a cross section of the point of articulation, and FIG. 6 a cross section on a larger scale along the line VI-VI of FIG. 2.
Fig. 7 is a partial view of a second embodiment of an unloading device according to the invention.
Fig. 8 is a variant of a detail of this embodiment.
Fig. 9 is a partial sectional view of another embodiment.
Fig. 10 is a cross section taken along the line X-X of FIG. 9.
Fig. 11 is an elevational view of a fourth embodiment of the object of the invention.
The unloading device for boats shown comprises two sections of gutter 1, 2 disposed at an angle to each other, the section of gutter 1 is perpendicular and. an inlet orifice 3 is provided at its lower end. At its upper end, the gutter section 2, the other end of which is arranged in the form of an outlet orifice 4. At the point of articulation, the gutter section 2 comprises on the outer face a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
cylindrical casing part 5 projecting on the gutter section 1 and on the internal face, an articulated wall part 6 movably guided in a wall part 7, inclined towards the inside of the gutter section 1.
The two wall parts 6 and 7 prevent the loss of goods in the attic and completely close the gutter at the point of articulation of the two sections. Thus the two sections of gutter 1, 2 which, according to FIG. 1, are perpendicular to each other, can take other relative angular positions, by lowering the gutter section 1, as shown in FIG. 2, as well as by raising the gutter section 1, according to FIG. 3. To lower and raise the gutter sections 1, 2, two arms of the gutter section 2 are provided with two carrier rollers 9 by means of which the gutter sections are suspended.
At the point of articulation of the two gutter sections is arranged a pin 10 on which is housed by means of ball bearings 11 a guide roller 12, the periphery of which penetrates into a slot of the gutter section 1 and which guides the middle part of the conveyor chain, which may for example be a chain of the "Redler" type. At the lower end of the gutter section 1, the chain 13 passes over a roller 14 and at the output end of the gutter section 2 over a roller 15. The end of the chain 13 coming back is duct in the gutter section 2 by means of a guide rail 16 (fig. 6) which supports the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
middle part of the chain 13. A suitable guide rail 17 has also been provided in the gutter section 1.
The retracting end of the chain passes below the guide roller '12, which provides an advantageous compensation for the variable length of the chain resulting from lowering or raising of the gutter section. 1.
In the embodiment of FIG. 7, the two gutter sections 1 'and 2' are again movable around the point of articulation 10. The right side of the section 1 'and the lower part of the section 2 'are used to transport the goods in the direction indicated by the arrows, by means of the transport chain 13 passing over the guide roller 12 arranged in the axis of articulation of the two sections. The chain 13 transports the goods in an uninterrupted current towards the outlet opening 4; the chain passes over a chain wheel 15, and over an auxiliary roller 18 and returns along a guide rail 19 disposed along the gutter section 2 'and penetrating into the upper part of the section 1'.
Between the auxiliary roller 18 and the chain wheel 15, and between the roller 18 and the beginning of the rail 19, the chain can flex more or less, depending on the relative position of the gutter sections, in order to obtain compensation for the length string variable. Such compensation is necessary in the embodiment of FIG. 7, because the two chain ends pass over the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
guide roller 12, and the length of the chain varies when changing the relative position of the two sections.
In the variant of FIG. 8, the chain wheel 15 is slidably mounted in grooves 20 of the section 2 ', and the chain is tensioned by a spring 21 acting on the wheel and making it possible to compensate for the variable length of the chain .
In the embodiment of FIGS. 9 and 10 the guide rails 16 and 17 of FIG. 1 have been replaced by rolling rollers 22 to guide the returning end of the chain. Each of the contiguous ends of the two sections of gutter 1 and 2 carries at least one roller 22 whose axis 23 is mounted in supports 24.
In the embodiment of FIG. 11 the two gutter sections are rigidly connected to one another.
This rigid arrangement can be used, either in cases where it is not necessary to modify the position of the section 1 in height, or in cases where the two sections can be raised or lowered together.
