" L E S S I V E U S E ".
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The present invention relates to a washing machine by hand or by motor, with a bell immersed in the tub of the machine and receiving a reciprocating vertical movement combined with the rotation of the bell inside the tub.
It relates more particularly to a machine of this kind in which the transmission mechanism connecting the rod of the bell to the motor shaft of the machine comprises a connecting rod which, secured at one end to an arm secured to this rod, is connected by its other end using a ball joint, to a crank plate wedged on the motor shaft.
In this known machine, the dimensions of the crank plate being determined only by the length of the arm, this plate is as light as possible, so that it is necessary to provide the washing machine with a flywheel.
The object of the present invention is to provide a washing machine equipped with a transmission mechanism of this kind, modifications capable, among other things, of simplifying the construction and of reducing the weight of the mechanism.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
For this purpose, according to the invention, the aforementioned crank plate is used at the same time as a flywheel and a control pulley.
To this end, according to the invention, the crank plate has the shape of a disc with a radius greater than the length of the nanivelle arm, so that the part of this plate extending outside the crank circumference described by the crank button appropriately increases the mass of said crank plate.
On the other hand, to facilitate the assembly of the transmission mechanism, according to the invention, the guide of the rod of the bell and the bearing or bearings of the motor shaft are in one piece with a base plate capable of to be attached to the tank cover.
According to the invention, the lateral tab of the cover of the tank supporting the control motor is arranged in the plane of symmetry of the cover at an equal distance from the hinges of the latter, so as to achieve a perfect balance of the part of the machine. tilting when opening the tank and allow the drive belt to pass directly from the engine pulley onto the crank plate.
The washing machine being capable of being operated by hand using a crank, according to the invention, safety is ensured by preventing this crank from being driven by the motor shaft when the machine is actuated. per engine.
For this purpose, according to the invention, this crank is mounted loose on the free end of the aforesaid motor shaft, and capable of sliding axially on this shaft so as to be able to be applied against a member integral with the aforesaid motor shaft. , the surfaces facing the crank and the aforesaid member being toothed so as to allow only the drive of the shaft by the aforementioned crank, and this in one direction of rotation.
. In order to ensure the mechanical drive of the laundry by the rotating bell, according to the invention, the lower edge of this
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
bell forming suction cup, is serrated or cut so as to grip the laundry during the rotation of the bell. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, this edge comprises for this purpose, eight notches, notches.
Other advantages and characteristics of the present invention will emerge from the description of the appended drawing which represents schematically and by way of non-limiting example, an embodiment of the washing machine according to the invention.
The washing machine as shown in the drawing, compo% te a tank 1 inside which is plunged a bell 2 fixed to the end of a rod 3 guided vertically in the sockets 4 and 5. The rod 3 carries at a suitable location, a collar 6 integral with a sleeve 7, in which is fixed by means of a pin 8 one end of a connecting rod 9, the opposite end of which is articulated by means of a joint ball joint. 10 to the crank plate 11 wedged on a shaft 12, which, in the known machine of the type described, acts as a motor shaft controlled by a flywheel operated by hand or by motor.
According to the invention, the crank plate 11 is of a larger diameter than in the known machine of the type described, so as to be able to fulfill, in addition to its usual function of movement transformation member, also that of a flywheel. and speed reduction pulley, and a belt 13 passing over the motor pulley 14 passes over the rim of said crank plate.
In order to enable the washing machine to be operated by hand, according to the invention, the shaft 12 which, in the case of a motor drive only serves as a support for the crank plate 11, carries at its free end a crank 15, which, according to the invention, is mounted so that it cannot be driven by the shaft 12 during the operation of the engine.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
For this purpose, according to the invention, the crank 15 rotates idle on the shaft 12, on which all can slide axially.
On the other hand, a bush 16 is fixed by a set screw 17 to the shaft 12. The facing surfaces of the crank 15 and the bush 16 are provided with teeth inclined in one direction so that when the crank 15 applied against the sleeve 16 is turned in the direction of the arrow, the crank 15 drives the motor shaft 12. On the other hand, when the crank 15 is disengaged, it remains stationary even when the shaft -motor 12 is actuated by motor 14.
To facilitate the assembly of the mechanism, according to the invention, the guide sleeves 4 and 5 of the rod 3 and the bearing 10 of the motor shaft 12 form a single piece with a base plate 19 intended to be fixed, for example, by bolts to the cover 20 of the machine,
According to the invention, the tab 21 of the cover serving to support the motor is placed at an equal distance from the hinges 22, allowing the cover 20 to be tilted in view of the opening of the tank. It follows that the belt 13 can pass directly from the engine on the crank plate 11.
In order to ensure better entrainment of the laundry in the rotational movement of the bell 1, according to the invention, this bell has the general shape of a cap forming a vacuum and the edge of which is cut, for example, in eight. places of; so as to present notches, teeth or undulations which, gripping the laundry, impart to it a rotational movement in the tub.
It follows from the foregoing that the present invention offers several advantages. Thus, for example, it makes it possible to eliminate the usual flywheel, without adversely affecting the regularity of the running of the machine. Despite the increase in the weight of the crank plate due to the increase in its diameter, the entire mechanism is less heavy than that of the machine
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
@ to leach known the same. type, which must have a relatively heavy flywheel.
Thanks to the particular conformation of the bell, the laundry is driven simultaneously by suction and pushing.
The position of the motor with respect to the center of gravity of the mechanism and the cover ensures easy tilting of the latter, and the fact that the transmission belt is moved from the periphery to the middle of the cover increases safety.
It goes without saying that the present invention is by no means limited to its embodiment described and shown, since the latter can be modified in its details according to the requirements of practice and / or construction, without departing from this. falls within the scope of the invention.
